Choosing a profession is an important decision. But for many people, discovering where they truly want to build a career only happens after graduating.
That is exactly how it went for Dr. Ana Carolina Pontes. A pharmacist from Cajati, in the interior of São Paulo, she began her professional journey in the traditional field of Pharmacy, working in drugstores and living the intense routine that thousands of pharmacists know well. For years, she built experience, developed skills, and played a fundamental role in serving the public.
But over time, she began to realize that another field was increasingly sparking her interest.
A field that combined care, close relationships with patients, appreciation for self-esteem, and professional recognition.
That is how Aesthetic Pharmacy began to transform her path.
When Pharmacy Met Beauty
Choosing Pharmacy happened quite naturally. Passionate about healthcare, Ana Carolina was looking for a profession that would let her work directly with people and make a positive impact on their lives.
In the region where she lived, degree options were more limited, and Pharmacy ended up standing out as the path that made the most sense at that moment.
After graduating, she entered the job market and spent about five years working in drugstores.
“Working the counter is a very big demand.”
The intense routine, daily responsibilities, and workload were part of her professional reality. But at the same time, a new passion was starting to emerge.
The First Step That Changed Everything
While she was still working at the drugstore, Dr. Ana Carolina decided to take an eyelash extension course.
The initial idea was just to learn something new. However, the experience brought an important discovery.
“I did it and I liked it.”
What began as curiosity quickly turned into a professional opportunity.
For a while she balanced both fields, working in Pharmacy as well as in aesthetic procedures. But as she gained experience, she realized that Aesthetics sparked ever greater enthusiasm.
“The aesthetics field kept pulling me in more and more.”
Little by little, the scale began to tip to one side.
Today, she no longer works in drugstores and devotes her professional routine to the beauty field, especially eyelash extensions and lip micropigmentation.
The Search for New Knowledge in Aesthetic Pharmacy
Even while already working in Aesthetics, Dr. Ana Carolina realized she wanted to go further.
Her goal was no longer just to work with beautifying procedures; it came to include advanced aesthetics, especially injectable procedures and facial harmonization.
“I have a lot of interest in facial harmonization.”
It was this desire to grow professionally that led her to the Postgraduate Program in Aesthetic Pharmacy.
The specialization represents an opportunity to expand her knowledge, master new techniques, and enter a segment with even more possibilities for practice.
More than learning procedures, she sought clinical safety, scientific grounding, and proper preparation to work in an increasingly valued field.
The Enthusiasm of Someone Building a New Professional Chapter
For Dr. Ana Carolina, every class is a discovery.
Even though she already works in Aesthetics, she describes the experience as something completely new.
“Everything sparks interest.”
Entering Aesthetic Pharmacy opened doors to a universe different from the one she knew through eyelash extensions and micropigmentation.
New procedures, new techniques, and new knowledge became part of her learning routine.
“You want to learn more.”
This feeling of constant growth is one of the factors that motivates her most during the postgraduate program.
The Importance of Practice for Gaining Confidence
One of the points that most caught her attention during her training was how theory and practice complement each other.
First comes study, then preparation, and finally supervised performance of the procedures.
“That brings greater confidence.”
For those entering advanced aesthetics, this gradual building of confidence makes all the difference.
Procedures like botulinum toxin and fillers spark great interest precisely because they let professionals put highly specialized knowledge into practice.
“Botulinum toxin is what I'm really interested in.”
She points out that everything sparks curiosity because, even though she already knew the procedures as a patient and as a beauty professional, performing them is a completely different experience.
“Getting hands-on generates a lot of interest.”
More Flexibility and Quality of Life
Another aspect that strengthened her decision to pursue Aesthetic Pharmacy was the possibility of building a more flexible routine.
At the drugstore, hours were rigid and the routine extremely intense.
In Aesthetics, on the other hand, she sees the possibility of better organizing her schedule, appointments, and hours.
“You can have greater availability in your schedule.”
This autonomy represents not only quality of life, but also the freedom to build a career aligned with her own goals.
Patients' Encouragement Strengthens Her Decision
Because she already works in the beauty field, Dr. Ana Carolina has something that many professionals take years to earn: a client base that trusts her work.
“My clients can't wait for me to finish.”
The support and encouragement she receives every day further reinforce her confidence in this professional transition.
Many patients follow her progress, encourage her training, and show interest in the future procedures she will offer.
“It's going to work out, we want to do it.”
This trust has become an important fuel for continuing to move forward.
When Recognition Has a Name and a Surname
Perhaps the biggest differentiator Dr. Ana Carolina has found in Aesthetics is professional recognition.
After years working in drugstores, she felt that her work was important, but not always valued the way it deserved.
“In aesthetics it's you, it's your name, it's your work.”
In Aesthetic Pharmacy, the patient directly recognizes who is behind the results, the care, and the attention.
This professional appreciation creates a sense of fulfillment that she describes as unmatched.
“It's so much more rewarding.”
A Turning Point in Professional Life
Looking back on her journey, Dr. Ana Carolina has no doubt that the decision to invest in knowledge was transformative.
Aesthetic Pharmacy represents much more than a new specialization. It represents professional growth, personal growth, and building a career with more purpose.
“It's a game changer in our lives.”
Today, between classes, hands-on practice, and new learning, she continues to build a path that combines science, aesthetics, and professional fulfillment.
And perhaps her story shows something that many healthcare professionals also discover over the course of their careers: when knowledge, purpose, and recognition go together, work stops being just a profession and becomes a genuine source of fulfillment.
