Dr. Ana Carolina Puga creates ACorPoralle, the first aesthetics clinic run by a biomedical scientist in the country, founded in the city of Sertãozinho, São Paulo. Health professionals, especially biomedical scientists, begin seeking her out to take part in the first Aesthetic Health courses in Brazil.
After extensive scientific and legal research, many lectures given at higher education institutions across Brazil, many battles among biomedical scientists themselves and many signatures supporting the petition, Dr. Ana Carolina Puga presents to the plenary of the Federal Council of Biomedicine (CFBM) the project to regulate Aesthetic Biomedicine as a legitimate area of practice for biomedical scientists, making CFBM the first professional council in Brazil to do so. October 10, 2010 goes down in the profession's history, with nearly unanimous approval of the project. And in 2011, the CFBM issues Resolution No. 197.
In 2012, Nepuga's first postgraduate classes are created in Ribeirão Preto, Belo Horizonte, Curitiba and São Paulo. The Federal Council of Pharmacy (CFF), after many pharmacists took courses with Dr. Ana Carolina Puga and were inspired by her story of achievements and victories, issues Resolution No. 573/2013 and then No. 616/2015, which also allow pharmacists to practice Aesthetic Pharmacy. Also in 2013, Dr. Ana Carolina Puga and her colleagues went to the National Congress in Brasília to face the powerful Medical Council and secure biomedical scientists' right to perform injectable aesthetic procedures.
Encouraged and trained by Dr. Ana Carolina Puga, former nursing students organized into specialist associations also fight for recognition of the Aesthetic Nursing specialization through Resolution No. 529/16 issued by the Federal Nursing Council (COFEN). After many legal disputes, nurses move to Resolution No. 626/2020, further reinforcing the role of nursing in the health and well-being of the Brazilian population.
Motivated, if indirectly, by Dr. Ana Carolina Puga's fight and by the success of Aesthetic Health in the CRBMs, CRFs and CORENs (Brazil's regional professional councils), the Federal Council of Dentistry (CFO), after intense protests from countless dental surgeons who had long been working in aesthetics, makes Orofacial Harmonization an official dental specialty through Resolution No. 198/2019. This measure more than legitimizes the use of botulinum toxin, threads, biostimulators and drugs by specialized dentists for aesthetic procedures in the facial region.
Biologists turn to Dr. Ana Carolina to help structure and present the project advocating Aesthetic Biology, and they win approval of Resolution No. 528/2020, published by the Federal Council of Biology (CFBio).
And finally, physiotherapists, through the Federal Council of Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy (COFFITO), publish Ruling No. 609/23, recognizing and regulating the use of botulinum toxin in the Dermatofunctional Physiotherapy and Neurofunctional Physiotherapy specializations.
The resolutions of numerous health professional councils, the result of a long battle started and supported by Dr. Ana Carolina Puga, represent significant advances for every class of health professionals, and make Aesthetic Health available to the entire Brazilian population.
The doctor who specializes at Nepuga is ready for new challenges and wants to grow with their own business, looking for new beginnings!
Entrepreneurship in Brazil's aesthetics industry is booming. The big draw of this market is its significant financial return. Well-structured aesthetic clinics can bill between R$ 20,000 and R$ 50,000 a month, breaking even within 18 months. This high profitability is driven by demand for minimally invasive procedures such as facial harmonization, hair therapies and post-surgical treatments, which often have profit margins above 50%. In addition, new audiences, such as men and consumers focused on holistic health, have further expanded the industry's reach and growth potential.
