Finding Professional Autonomy Through Ozone Therapy in Nursing

Nursing is a profession full of possibilities, allowing its professionals to explore different areas of practice beyond the hospital setting. One example is Ozone Therapy in nursing, a practice that has been gaining ground for its effectiveness in a variety of treatments, from aesthetics to wound and pain care.

This broadening of horizons was one of the doors that allowed Dr. Lavínia Morais to seek new opportunities and gain greater professional autonomy.

The journey of Dr. Lavínia Morais in nursing began in the hospital setting, working in patient care and auditing. Although she enjoyed her work, the arrival of motherhood awakened a new desire in her: to be more present in raising her son and to gain greater professional autonomy.

At first, she left the hospital to devote herself to motherhood, but soon missed work. That was when she began working in wound care, helping a friend who worked independently. That step opened the way to an old dream that once seemed distant: a specialization in aesthetics.

During the specialization, Dr. Lavínia especially appreciated the teaching model that combined in-person practice with online material, providing a solid foundation for her work. However, she stresses the importance of constantly staying up to date and going deeper in the field.

Within aesthetics, Ozone Therapy caught her attention in a special way.

“I realized that Ozone Therapy was not only useful in aesthetics, but could also help me treat wounds more efficiently,” she says.

It was from this discovery that Dr. Lavínia saw the great potential of Ozone Therapy in nursing. Determined to improve her knowledge, she took more courses focused on the use of medical ozone. The effectiveness of this approach was so evident that it allowed Dr. Lavínia to gain even more autonomy, leading her to open her own office.

“My first challenge was facing the market and understanding how to start a business, sell, and manage all of this efficiently.”

What she loves most about the health field is the chance to care for people. From that purpose, she found a great advantage in professional autonomy, freeing herself from the exhausting shifts common in nursing.

Despite the challenges of entrepreneurship, every achievement reinforced her decision to follow this path.

“Many times, we think the opportunity to transform lives is inside a hospital, but we can do it according to our specialty and with a lot of autonomy.”

For her, entrepreneurship goes beyond opening a business; it is a lifestyle.

“You have to constantly seek further training. Attracting and retaining clients are the result of consistent, persistent work. Learning to sell and treating the patient as a unique person are essential.”

Since the postgraduate program, she sees many changes in her journey. Today, she feels more confident, autonomous, and empathetic, with a better understanding of the complexity of each patient she treats.

Currently, Dr. Lavínia has an office in Contagem (MG), focused on Ozone Therapy in nursing, but she is already planning to open a clinic to expand her practice even further. Her entrepreneurial vision includes diversifying services, adding cosmetics and technological equipment rental.

“I'd like to start businesses on several fronts within aesthetics, because there is a range of opportunities.”

She emphasizes that sales experience is built along the way:

“Selling comes with practice. First you try, you succeed, and only then do you gain experience. Nobody starts big. Everyone we admire started from zero one day.”

Dr. Lavínia Morais's journey is an inspiring example of how the pursuit of autonomy and professional fulfillment can transform lives. Her dedication to continuous learning and her courage to start a business show that it is possible to forge new paths, combining purpose and independence in the health field, with a major differentiator: the application of Ozone Therapy in nursing.
