Nurse Takes On the Challenge of Going Back to School to Change Her Lifestyle with Aesthetic Health

At 42, Alessandra de Oliveira is going through a decisive phase of her professional journey. A dedicated nurse with years of experience at two hospitals, she knows firsthand the demands, limitations, and above all the challenges of an intense hospital routine. Tied to long shifts, with an exhausting workload and little room for her own life, Alessandra began looking for alternatives. She wanted more — not only financially, but in terms of personal fulfillment, freedom, and purpose.

It was on social media, during one of these searches for new possibilities, that she discovered Nepuga. The first institution that appeared in her search was also the one that resonated most with her dreams. Without hesitating, she decided to enroll in the postgraduate program in Aesthetic Nursing, seeing it as a gateway to starting over.

“I saw the opportunity to grow in the field as an entrepreneur, to achieve financial freedom and, at the same time, update my education in a way that made me feel useful, like someone who truly makes a difference”, she often says with a sparkle in her eyes.

For Alessandra, aesthetics represents much more than outward beauty. After years of treating physical illnesses, she came to see the value of healing pains that don’t show up on tests: emotional ones, those tied to self-esteem, to the look in the mirror, to feeling good about yourself.

“In nursing, you perform many procedures, but you get paid per shift. In aesthetics, I get paid per procedure and, on top of that, I make someone feel happier and more confident. That carries a much lighter and more rewarding emotional weight,” she explains.

The desire to change overcomes any doubt

When she started the postgraduate program, she knew it wouldn’t be simple. The challenge of going back to school, especially in a hybrid model, required adjustment. Used to the physical presence of classrooms, Alessandra feared she wouldn’t be able to keep up with the pace of distance learning. But her desire to change overcame any doubt. Little by little, she realized she could handle it — and more than that: she started to feel comfortable, confident, and excited about the new learning.

“The hands-on classes surprised me. I feel like I’m inside a real clinic. With each procedure I perform, I gain more confidence. The professors encourage us, and that makes all the difference.”

Although she hasn’t yet clearly defined which niche of aesthetics she will work in, Alessandra already envisions her own space. She dreams of opening a clinic where she can apply everything she is learning, with autonomy over her schedule, her income, and her life. She wants to stop being just a cog in the hospital system and become a complete professional — technical, but also an entrepreneur, free to create her own path.

For her, this change of direction is, above all, taking back control of her own story. “I’m tired of living tied to the clock, to sacrificed holidays, to days off that don’t exist. Aesthetics gives me the chance to manage my time better, to have a real social and family life.”

Alessandra also recognizes the growth of the aesthetic health market and sees in this niche a concrete opportunity for those who want to start a business and thrive. She believes that aesthetic procedures, increasingly in demand, go far beyond vanity — they are also therapeutic tools, capable of correcting imperfections and giving people back something fundamental: confidence.

“Nowadays, people aren’t looking only for beauty, but for well-being, harmony, and self-esteem. And that is something aesthetics can offer with responsibility and skill”

In her words, always firm and serene, there is a quiet invitation to anyone who still has doubts about this transition: “If you’re tired of exhausting workloads, if you feel you’re losing your life inside shifts, give aesthetics some thought. It’s a way of caring for others and, at the same time, caring for yourself.”

More than a change of profession, Alessandra is building a new lifestyle. One in which she can be the owner of her own time, her own story, and the choices that make her happy. Her journey, marked by courage and determination, is a reminder that it’s never too late to start over — especially when that fresh start comes full of purpose, passion, and freedom.
