Dr. Thais Ortega, Aesthetic Pharmacist, Conquers the Market!

“Through the recognition and regulation of the practice of Aesthetic Pharmacy, the postgraduate program adds to and consolidates our knowledge, qualifying us technically, scientifically, and professionally, and preparing us to safely use aesthetic techniques and therapeutic resources specific to the field”.

Dr. Thais Ortega, who graduated from the Universidade de Santa Cruz do Sul (UNISC) in 2004, began her postgraduate program in Aesthetic Pharmacy and completed her specialization in 2015. Since then, she has continued to improve her skills and build her business in the field.

After earning her professional qualification, Dr. Ortega opened her own clinic, Harmonize por Thais Ortega, in Rio Grande do Sul, where she offers facial and body aesthetics services, hair therapy, and consulting. The specialist, who is passionate about the field, says: “Your face expresses your essence. I approach the enhancement of individual beauty and expression with perception and sensitivity”.

THE LIFE OF AN AESTHETIC PHARMACIST WORKING IN THE MARKET

A pharmacist specialized in aesthetics is qualified to serve as the technical manager of establishments that use therapeutic techniques and resources for aesthetic purposes, such as laser therapy, intense pulsed light, ultrasound, electrotherapy, radiofrequency, among others.

Pharmacists working in aesthetics are also qualified to take the patient's history, identify skin dysfunctions and skin type, and then recommend and formulate a cosmetic product that meets the patient's needs (cosmetic counseling), as well as apply cosmetic treatments to the skin for aesthetic purposes (cosmetotherapy), such as chemical peels, hydration treatments, facial cleansing, and more.

“The job market in this field is demanding and competitive, like any profession. To stand out, you need to have experience, specialize, and constantly seek improvement and updating in the field”, explains Dr. Thais.

THE OBSTACLES THE SPECIALIST FACED

“Our profession is undervalued in Brazil, even though we have very broad training that allows us to work in different areas”, says the specialist.

However, the Postgraduate Program in Aesthetic Pharmacy was a turning point in Dr. Ortega's career, and today she enjoys far more professional recognition and profitability with her own business. “This specialization added to and consolidated our knowledge, qualifying us technically, scientifically, and professionally, and preparing us to safely use techniques and therapeutic resources specific to the field”, she says.

Today, after so many professional achievements, Dr. Thais Ortega thanks everyone who was part of her journey and gave her the strength to get where she is today:

“I thank God for always being present in my life, and my husband, who has always supported me, encouraged me, and believed in me. And also some family members and friends who, in one way or another, encouraged me and contributed to my journey,” she concludes.
