The acknowledgments of alumna Dr. Simone Maria dos Santos da Silva open the presentation of her final course project (TCC). The specialist has held a degree in Pharmacy from Centro Universitário Augusto Motta – UNISUAM since 2011 and completed her postgraduate program in aesthetic pharmacy at Nepuga/FAPUGA in Rio de Janeiro-SP.
“I dedicate this work to my daughters Nathalia and Tayná, who have always been and still are the inspiration for all of my struggles and achievements. First of all, I thank God for helping me this far, because in the moments when I thought about giving up, He was always there renewing my strength.”

In 2018, Dr. Simone began her postgraduate program in Aesthetic Pharmacy and, during her time at Nepuga/FAPUGA, fell in love with the field: “My newest passion is Aesthetic Pharmacy. It is with great pride, dedication and study that I keep climbing one more step in my career path.”
To complete her qualification with distinction, Dr. Simone researched the topic “BENEFITS OF MICRONEEDLING COMBINED WITH PLATELET-RICH PLASMA FOR SKIN REJUVENATION” for her final course project (TCC). Aiming to explore the microneedling technique in combination with an autologous active ingredient for skin rejuvenation, Dr. Simone writes masterfully:
“The skin, like any other organ of the human body, undergoes changes in its structure, so aging is inevitable; however, it is possible to minimize the effects of time. Skin ages for many reasons, not all of them are unavoidable and some can be changed, while others can be controlled to a certain extent, with a comprehensive approach that works as prevention and softening.”
Emphasizing the benefits of applying the microneedling technique, Dr. Simone points out that “Microneedling is a treatment that promotes the removal of atrophic scars , reduces spots, wrinkles or expression lines on the skin, all through the natural stimulation produced by microneedles that penetrate directly into the skin, forming new collagen fibers, from the injury caused by the needles.”
In addition, when the technique is combined with another substance, the results can be enhanced: “Microneedling is in fact an effective procedure. Especially when combined with protocols that allow active ingredients to permeate through drug delivery. With Platelet-Rich Plasma to enhance its rejuvenating effect, PRP works effectively for rejuvenation, speeds up healing and regulates inflammation.”
Dr. Simone concludes optimistically about the advances in the technique: “Its application is considered effective, it is in fact an innovative active ingredient, bringing promising advances in tissue regeneration time, and it can be used in multidisciplinary areas with the goal of accelerating tissue regeneration. The cost benefit is considerably good and affordable for patients; both working together, with microneedling as a vehicle for rejuvenating active ingredients, they will stimulate collagen production without removing the epidermis. We know that new research emerges every day, so the technique can be gradually refined, along with the active ingredient used in each phase.”
After graduating in 2019, Dr. Simone kept working in the field and decided to become an entrepreneur by setting up her own office. She currently works independently and continues to pursue her dreams: “My goal is to enhance the beauty that already exists in my patients and bring them self-esteem and satisfaction when they look in the mirror.”
