These two products (hyaluronic acid and calcium hydroxyapatite) work as aesthetic procedures that are proving popular among Brazilians. They are common for anti-aging treatment and for reducing fat volume.
The advantages of using these techniques are several: while applied for fat loss, you also gain from collagen stimulation, for example. From this introduction, it is worth getting to know hyaluronic acid and calcium hydroxyapatite.
What hyaluronic acid is
Hyaluronic acid is a versatile substance and is widely used in aesthetics today. One of its uses has to do with deep hydration, which relates to the filling and volumizing effect.
The idea here differs from the situation we will see below. Filling with this acid is meant to gain volume without making the result look artificial. It replaces the structures we lose over time, caused by aging.
Fillers are applied with very thin needles and in small doses into the subcutaneous tissue. The effect may or may not be immediate, and the duration varies in the same way. Trained health professionals can perform this procedure.
Is hyaluronic acid Botox?
No. Although they work in a similar way, as facial fillers most of the time, there are differences between them. Botox works by paralyzing the muscle, while hyaluronic acid replaces volume lost in certain areas of the face. If in doubt, here is the difference:
– Botulinum Toxin (Botox) is a toxin made by a bacterium, used to correct wrinkles and expression lines. It is commonly applied to forehead wrinkles, the glabella (the space between the eyebrows) and crow's feet (around the eyes).
– Hyaluronic Acid is a natural substance in the body, a molecule plus sugar that attracts and retains fat, giving the skin more firmness and texture. There are creams and tablets made with this acid, as well as injections.
What calcium hydroxyapatite is
Calcium hydroxyapatite is a collagen biostimulator and brings natural results in improving the skin. What's more, the effect is long-lasting. It acts as a filler, indicated to improve the appearance of the skin, as in facial rejuvenation.
Aging is a natural process of human life. With it, we lose collagen, causing skin sagging. With that in mind, the biostimulator becomes one of the best options to address the issue, and can be used on the skin of the face or body.
Besides calcium hydroxyapatite, found in Radiesse products, know that there are other biostimulators available on the national market. Among them: polylactic acid (Sculptra and Rennova Elleva) and polycaprolactone (Ellansé).
Biostimulators can be applied through a minimally invasive procedure, just like Botox or Hyaluronic Acid. Health professionals may recommend anesthetic ointments to reduce discomfort.
Is it worth getting these aesthetic treatments?
What research shows is that diet and lifestyle habits are important for collagen production and in fighting skin aging. However, by using the right stimuli it is also possible to enhance results.
That said, know that they can be used as a complement. For sagging, a biostimulator is generally recommended, and to fill volumes and structures (harmonization), a good idea may come from applying hyaluronic acid.
