A reference in her field, Dr. Barbara Silva de Jesus has been a graduate in biomedicine from the Lutheran University of Brazil (ULBRA) since 2009 and holds a postgraduate degree in Aesthetic Biomedicine. In addition, the Aesthetic Biomedical Professional is also a specialist in applied toxicology and owner of Clínica Suavize – Aesthetic Health.
The entrepreneur realized her dream of owning an aesthetics clinic, and tells a little about her experience during the specialization: “Prof. Dr. Ana Carolina Puga, was always very attentive, not to mention that her classes were taught in a way that we students understood all of the theory, and in the hands-on classes we gained extensive experience”, she said.
Dr. Barbara says she first came into contact with Aesthetic Biomedicine in 2011, through an internet search, and identified with it right away. Like any newly graduated professional, she says she felt insecure when deciding which area to follow: “I was going through a moment of insecurity within biomedicine and didn't know exactly what I wanted to pursue”.
From that doubt, and a lot of research online, the doctor discovered the qualification to become an Aesthetic Biomedical Professional. “First I took short courses in the field, to be sure I would really like it. I became interested and fell in love with the field, I went back home knowing what I wanted. Then I got organized and started the postgraduate program that same year in Porto Alegre”.
It was after completing the postgraduate program in Aesthetic Biomedicine that the doctor understood the importance of health in the field of aesthetics, beauty and well-being. “Every profession has its importance and its charm… Mine is this: restoring my patients' self-esteem! That is health promotion, quality of life! That fulfills me! I love what I do so much!”.
Today, as an owner and Aesthetic Biomedical Professional in charge of her own business, Dr. Bárbara is a reference in the interior of Rio Grande do Sul. “With the experience I gained in the Nepuga specialization, I perform procedures aimed at aesthetic dysfunctions, including localized fat, cellulite, sagging, stretch marks. I also offer alternatives for facial rejuvenation and skin care to my clients”, she says.
CLINICAR TRANSFORMS
Since entering the Aesthetic Biomedicine market, the doctor understood that the best way to demonstrate her knowledge was by opening her own clinic. That is why, even while studying, she also invested in renovating a house so that her practice could be inaugurated in the future.
“When I understood that I needed to set up my own space, I already pictured the team. With each study module I learned new things, and I was able to put them on paper and organize them. The clinic opened in September 2013, and I was thrilled and eager to put into practice everything I had already learned”, recalled the owner of Clínica Suavize.
A resident of the city of Taquari – RS, she recalls that when she opened her space it was a novelty for the city, and that even with uncertainties about her business, she moved forward. “After questioning myself, it worked out. Thank God, my clinic is turning 7 years old and every year new patients are added. I am established and have my city's respect for our ethics”.
The clinic's success earned recognition in the city, symbolized by a prominent award: “Once again we are honored with the Taquari Business Highlight award, as an Aesthetics Clinic! In this atypical year, receiving this affection from our patients and friends makes us even stronger and more confident in our work!”.
Her workplace is multiprofessional: in addition to the Aesthetic Biomedical Professional's appointments, it also has other professionals such as a hair therapist, aesthetician, cosmetologist, podiatrist, psychologist, nutrologist and a plastic surgeon.
Even with everything she has built over the years, success has a different meaning for Dr. Barbara: “People thought the services were all very expensive, that they weren't accessible. We had to break down that barrier. In the second year, I remember I was seeing a housekeeper in one room while a judge waited to be seen. Then I realized I had achieved what I wanted”, she recalls.
AESTHETIC BIOMEDICAL PROFESSIONAL CAREER VS. FAMILY
Even before becoming a mother, the doctor realized she needed to take it easy at work. In the early years, she saw patients at all hours and didn't rest much. For health reasons, she slowed down. And with the arrival of her daughter Catarina, she prioritized her routine.
“I have small children who need a lot of care and I manage to get organized. I end up having options on what to do; some methodologies, some treatments I no longer perform. I keep filtering and specializing more in certain areas, experience lets you choose.”
As an entrepreneur, mother and woman, Dr. Barbara divides her time between a promising career and a beautiful family: “Gratitude for the gifts God gave me! What is your greatest motivation? Mine comes from these two little ones, my children, who are the reason and the love behind everything I do! Caetano and Catarina”.
She says her profession allows her to follow her children's development thanks to flexible hours, “This flexibility of being able to make my own schedule is really great. Since I own my business, I can balance the professional and the personal.”
“I am grateful for having done that research back in 2011”, said the Aesthetic Biomedical Professional.Success Stories>Aesthetic Biomedicine
