On this same day in 2010, Dr. Ana Carolina Puga was launching the training of Brazil's first aesthetic biomedical professionals.
Through her fight, she secured the authorization for biomedical professionals to work in the field of Aesthetic Health and to become valued professionals in the market.
But her pioneering spirit bore more fruit: with Aesthetic Biomedicine, more health professionals saw the possibility of entering the aesthetics market and also began the fight for authorization.

The movement that transformed Aesthetic Biomedicine
“Today I celebrate 12 years of the first class of fellow biomedical professionals that I trained as aesthetic biomedical professionals..”
That is how Dr. Ana Carolina Puga began, emotionally, to share her memories of January 25, 2010, as she sorted through photos of the first classes at ACorPoralle.
Question: Dr. Puga, what was it like to turn the first biomedical professionals into aesthetic biomedical professionals?
Answer: I remember that fellow biomedical professionals, after seeing the success of ACorPoralle, came to me to find out how they could work in the field of Aesthetics as Biomedical professionals. And it was by wanting to help them that I trained the first aesthetic biomedical professionals that week.
What I did was pass on my knowledge and experience to those professionals who dreamed of doing much more than living in laboratories. Like me, they were looking for a life change within their professions.
I had already held a master's degree in Health Sciences since 2003, so I used my skills in teaching and instruction to train biomedical professionals as aesthetic biomedical professionals, qualified professionals capable of truly promoting patient transformation through Aesthetic Health, giving them back self-esteem, well-being and health.
That was an important moment because there I was teaching much more than procedures; I was teaching how to be an Aesthetic Biomedicine professional, because it was important to make very clear what the role of the Biomedical professional in the aesthetics scene was, and is.
So I always say that there I was passing on the DNA of Aesthetic Biomedicine. Characteristics that endure to this day as part of the profile of the countless biomedical professionals trained over these 12 years.
Q: What was this experience like for you?
A: It was wonderful! At that moment, I was able to prove how valid my idea was about the role of biomedical professionals in aesthetics and that it would bear a lot of fruit for all of us health professionals. I had a clear sense that we would gain great national prominence with this new authorization.
And also the gains that many fellow professionals could have by changing their lives through this new practice. It was incredible to see the development of my fellow biomedical professionals during the course at ACorPoralle.
I saw their progress day after day, how much they understood and grew during that period with me, and that is what led me to hold another immersion like that, again at my clinic, in July 2010.
Q: What was your expectation regarding the authorization in Aesthetic Biomedicine? Did you imagine it would impact other health fields?
A: In those days of January 2010, I didn't yet know that my initiative would also change the lives of other health professionals, such as pharmacists, physiotherapists, nurses, dentists and biologists.
From my dream of making Aesthetic Biomedicine happen, other professions in the field emerged, because as Aesthetic Biomedicine blossomed, the pollen spread and very similar flowers bloomed in other soil, and that always happens when the seed is good.
I also didn't expect that in October of that same year, 2010, on 10/10/2010, Aesthetic Biomedicine would be approved by the plenary of the Federal Council of Biomedicine, after a long presentation by me on the new field.
Q: What is your major differentiator in training aesthetic professionals?
Well, what many people don't know is that for me, at that time, I was doing much more than teaching aesthetic procedures to colleagues; I was training Biomedical professionals as aesthetic biomedical professionals, preparing them for the great fight we would face, in fact not just one fight, but several!
I passed my DNA on to that group and kept going, passing on my entire genetic code to be a successful aesthetic biomedical professional. And I continue that way to this day: while some teach classes, teach courses, I train successful aesthetic professionals.
Q: Dr. Puga, do you have a message for this day?
A: I congratulate this group for believing in my dream and flying to Sertãozinho, in the interior of São Paulo, seeking a real life change, which they got, because right after the course they began working in the field and moving forward alongside me, forming an army of biomedical professionals headed for the fights, headed for success.
It is with great joy and emotion that I see the result of all this fighting and celebrate my true life purpose: creating a new field of practice for biomedical professionals. And, consequently, contributing to the creation of Aesthetic Health.
And today I am happy to train the best aesthetic professionals: Aesthetic Biomedical Professionals, Aesthetic Pharmacists, Aesthetic Nurses, Aesthetic Dentists, Aesthetic Physiotherapists, in short, the entire Aesthetic Health community!
