Aesthetic Biomedicine has been transforming lives for more than 10 years. Back in October 2010, Dr. Ana Carolina Puga didn’t just create one more qualification as an Aesthetic Biomedical Professional, but a new life opportunity for biomedical professionals and health professionals.
In our Success Stories, we tell many inspiring stories of our postgraduate students and graduates who, after completing the specialization, are now winning over the Aesthetic Biomedicine market and standing out as leaders in the field in their regions.
Aesthetic Biomedical Professional Dr. Karen Lima is from Juiz de Fora-MG, where she has her advanced aesthetics clinic. Her first degree was in nursing, but after realizing that working in hospitals wasn’t exactly what she wanted, she decided to look for new paths within her field and found herself in Aesthetic Health.
Her biomedicine degree came a little after she entered the beauty and wellness market, which is why Dr. Karen Lima sought the title of aesthetic biomedical professional. Learn about her journey in this article.
Journey and Transition: From Nurse to Aesthetic Biomedical Professional
As we’ve seen in some other stories here, Dr. Karen also discovered she was passionate about Aesthetics after taking an acupuncture course. Soon after, she took several courses and saw that this was the field she wanted to specialize in.
It was on a trip to Curitiba-PR that Dr. Karen, who was still a nurse at the time, learned about the story of Dr. Ana Carolina Puga, which led her to Nepuga. Captivated by the whole journey of the Mother of Aesthetic Biomedicine, she wanted to take Nepuga’s Postgraduate Program in Aesthetic Biomedicine.
“I was enchanted with everything, even more so when I met Dr. Ana Carolina; it was an honor. I even attended a congress and ended up winning the Postgraduate Program in a raffle they held. I was even happier,” says the Aesthetic Biomedical Professional.
While she was still a nurse, Dr. Karen took some Aesthetics courses and was already working in her own clinic. Even with knowledge in the field, she understood the importance of having the postgraduate program to become a specialist and Aesthetic Biomedical Professional.
“I think it’s important to go out and study, read, take more and more courses, even to see the point of view, have techniques and create your own way of working,” she emphasizes.
A Successful Career in Aesthetic Biomedicine
In fact, after finishing her degree in Biomedicine and her specialization in Aesthetic Biomedicine, Dr. Karen earned her qualification to practice in the field. Thanks to her excellent performance and prior knowledge as a nurse, she was initially hired to teach some classes at Nepuga.
“For six years I’ve been a facial harmonization professor; besides being a nurse and aesthetic biomedical professional, I’m also a dentist now and I always want to go further. I love the surgical side, Orofacial Harmonization, and I just kept gaining ground,” says Dr. Karen.
The aesthetic biomedical professional explains that after the experience of teaching, one of her greatest passions within Aesthetic Biomedicine is teaching and passing on everything she learned along her journey, especially her inspiration to follow this path.
“Wherever I am, I will always remember Dr. Ana fondly, with great gratitude, because it was her, her words, her life that motivated me to get where I am,” she notes.
Professional Autonomy in Aesthetic Biomedicine
The Aesthetic Biomedical Professional says that, back when she was an aesthetic nurse, she started working with electrotherapy and laser. Little by little, while taking the Postgraduate Program in Aesthetic Biomedicine, she arrived at the field she truly identified with: facial harmonization.
“It’s something I really like. Raising the patient’s self-esteem, giving the client back their happiness, that makes me very grateful and happy; their satisfaction is mine,” reveals the Aesthetic Biomedical Professional.
The Aesthetic Biomedical Professional says she has made her living from Aesthetic Health for more than 10 years, supports her son on her own with her income, and always does everything with pleasure and satisfaction, because that is her edge. Currently, the most requested aesthetic procedures at her aesthetic clinic are Facial Harmonization, biostimulators and threads.
Dr. Karen always highlights the independence and autonomy that being an Aesthetic Biomedical Professional brought to her professional life. Very different from the other possible career paths within her training, owning her clinic gives her the freedom she needs to take care of herself and her family.
“I always tell this to my students, many of whom complain about the hospital routine, which is tiring, and Aesthetics isn’t like that. It’s enjoyable, it’s about giving the patient back their self-esteem and also creating a bond of friendship with them, something that only adds to your life. You identify with them, take on their pain and give them back their emotional and physical well-being,” concludes Dr. Karen.
