This week, we identified an Instagram profile (@nepuga_pos_graduacao) using the image of Nepuga in an attempt to scam prospective students of the Institution. We contacted the account's former manager, who told us that the profile belonged to her clinic and had been hacked some time ago.
The scammers send direct messages to social media users offering a free online course for two months, using the name of Dr. Ana Carolina Puga in their approach.
Unfortunately, some students fell for the scam and had their phone numbers cloned.
Beware of the fake Nepuga image!
We want to stress that you should not send any data or documents of yours to this profile, or to any other that is not one of our official communication channels.
We do not ask our students (or prospective students) for personal or banking information on Instagram; we use social media only to answer questions and direct people to the department responsible for solving their issue.
We do not offer courses, we do not give out prizes, and we do not send any bank slips (boletos) through social media; they are all available in the student portal.
Our official profile is @nepugaposgraduacao, all in one word, and it has more than 60,000 followers and 1,500 posts. Easy to spot, right? So don't fall for the scam, stay alert!
In fact, other types of scams targeting health-field students have become common, such as the Internship Scam.
