Dr. Grazielle Mara Faria Felonta: Aesthetic Nursing

In 2019, Dr. Grazielle Mara Faria Felonta completed her postgraduate program in Aesthetic Nursing and her Final Course Project (TCC), which earned her the title of aesthetics specialist, was about “Facial anatomy and filler treatment and facial harmonization using injectable hyaluronic acid”.

A nurse for many years, she has always liked aesthetics. That is why she wanted to specialize in the field and improve her knowledge in order to offer personalized care with excellent results for her clients.

“I did my TCC aiming to improve my clients' self-esteem, to enhance beauty without changing their features, without exaggeration, in a truly harmonious way, gaining a lot of knowledge through studies of facial anatomy and facial fillers”she reveals.

Going through the process of producing a TCC takes a lot of dedication, focus and effort in your studies. But in addition, it is extremely important to have the support of family and friends at this stage. And the aesthetic nurse had that privilege.

As a way of saying thank you, Dr. Grazielle dedicated her work to everything that motivated her not to give up on this project, her training and this dream called Aesthetic Nursing.

“To God for the gift of life and for blessing all my projects. To my parents, for being my foundation; to Gleiton de Barros Rodrigues, for being present throughout the postgraduate program and encouraging me during the entire course; and to everyone who passed through my life and who, in some way, contributed to my personal and professional growth,” she says gratefully.

In today's Academic Highlight, learn about Dr. Grazielle's study and get inspired to reach your goals too!

Aesthetic Nursing: a philosophical and aesthetic concept

Dr. Grazielle's study aims to analyze how the use of hyaluronic acid fillers works in the prevention and treatment of facial aging.

But besides discussing the practical use and the effects the filler brings to those who apply it, which include volume, support, hydration and skin elasticity, softening the signs of aging, Dr. Grazielle approached the subject from another angle as well: the influence on people wanting to take care of themselves and avoid aging, looking at it in a philosophical way.

“We see that people take care of themselves more in order to look more beautiful, according to their financial means, giving up nothing in order to prioritize personal care.”she comments.

With that in mind, the research in Grazielle's work made it possible to identify that the longing for beauty is influenced by several factors. Including that the ability to judge what is beautiful is often influenced by culture, socioeconomic conditions, fashion and the customs of each people.

“This cultural predominance, however, is the feeling of the human being within a given social group, its determining foundation and its constant search for change, which raises self-esteem,”she explains.

Self-Esteem and Well-Being

Backed by the philosophical thought of Plato, Aristotle, Socrates, Kant and others on what is beautiful, Dr. Grazielle points out that people seek facial and body aesthetic procedures in order to raise their self-esteem and feel fulfilled with their own appearance.

“Nowadays, aesthetic beauty is no longer a frivolous vanity and has become a basic priority for human beings. It is possible to be in tune with physical, mental and spiritual well-being through the treatments offered,”she says.

Hyaluronic Acid

That is why many people look for alternatives to soften the aging process as a way to raise self-esteem and well-being in aesthetic nursing. And, generally, the biggest signs can be seen on the face, so the work carried out focuses on facial aesthetic procedures, more specifically Facial Harmonization performed through hyaluronic acid filler.

“Hyaluronic acid is the most abundant glycosaminoglycan present in the extracellular matrix, where its applications aim to fill grooves and wrinkles, being quickly absorbed and providing filling and firmness to the skin, since its potent antioxidant action helps prevent skin photoaging, being one of the most popular filling agents,”comments Dr. Grazielle.

And the substance is one of the most popular and supporting agents in facial rejuvenation, because it has low immunogenicity, high safety and a blocking action through injection of hyaluronidase into the product.

“Aesthetics does not only care for appearance, but also for well-being, allowing older adults to live this stage of life in a healthier way, feeling good in body and mind,”concludes Dr. Grazielle.
