Aesthetic Nurse finds comfort and flexibility in Aesthetics in RJ

The inspiration for choosing a professional career can come in many ways in the life of an Aesthetic Nurse. Here in our Success Stories, for example, we have already seen many ‘sparks’ behind decision-making.

Dr. Renata Lima Ribeiro, an Aesthetic Nurse in Rio de Janeiro-RJ, had her first connection with the field when she saw a segment about childbirth on a television show. But she also felt deep down that she wanted to care for people after watching her grandfather fall ill.

So she started as a nursing technician, then earned her nursing degree and went to work in hospitals. However, the routine and an accident in her life made her look for other paths within her field, arriving at Aesthetic Nursing 10 years later.

Learn about the professional journey of Aesthetic Nurse Dr. Renata in this Success Story.

‘Turbulent routine’ in hospitals

Dr. Renata has always liked caring for others, but especially children. So, as soon as she graduated, she did a residency in neonatal and pediatric ICU at the Hospital Universitário Pedro Ernesto, in Rio de Janeiro.

“It was always a turbulent routine. I worked more than 24 hours and it was a tight routine, since we were one nurse and four nursing technicians for 15 beds, and that was too few for so many children,” says the aesthetic nurse.

Aesthetic Nurse by passion and necessity

The hectic routine Dr. Renata experienced at that time already pushed her to find a new area within nursing that would be calmer for her. But an accident took her away from her work as a neonatal nurse and made her look for a profession that would fit her needs.

“I really came to Aesthetic Nursing because of an accident I had, in which I tore all the ligaments in my right leg and, today, I don't feel 50% of the right side of my body, because my surgery wasn't successful. For that reason, I needed to find an area of practice where I could work sitting down, and Aesthetics allows me to do that”, explains Dr. Renata.

Why be an Aesthetic Nurse?

Working as an Aesthetic Nurse, standing only a few times during the day, Dr. Renata understands that her leg won't swell, she won't be at risk of thrombosis, and thus she preserves her health.

“It's calmer. Of course I'll move around, but it won't be as rushed and hectic as my day-to-day was as a hospital nurse”, she points out.

Aesthetic Nursing is highly sought after by nurses because of the countless benefits the field offers professionals. Dr. Renata, for example, came here looking for convenience and comfort in her daily work, but the Aesthetic Nurse points out that the financial stability the new career promises is also very attractive to her.

“What everyone is looking for these days is financial stability, and the Aesthetics market is more profitable every day. Besides, I can set my own schedule, I don't need to work every day, which is a great convenience for me. I have a daughter, so I need flexibility in my routine,” the Aesthetic Nurse emphasizes.

Challenges

For nurses who work 36-hour shifts, it is hard to divide time properly between personal, family, and social life, because work takes up so much time. Dr. Renata lived that routine and even missed Christmases and New Year's with her family because she was working.

“I want to have more time with my daughter, she is the reason I live. I do everything I can to be with her. I'm buying a few things and I plan to open my own space”, concludes Dr. Renata.
