Nurse Falls in Love With Aesthetics and Charts a New Course for Her Career

She felt a love for caring for people from a very young age; now, as a nurse, she falls in love with aesthetics and finds a new profession

Attention and care for others awakened very early in nurse Nathalia Eduarda Carile. Since childhood, she already saw herself following a career in health care and decided to earn a nursing degree. Nathalia says she liked dressing wounds, being around the hospital world, and believed that being involved in health care would be her destiny.

Nathalia graduated in nursing, where she has worked for more than 10 years. With that track record come many stories and many moments, and she is very grateful for everything nursing has done for her. With that background, she is taking a postgraduate program in aesthetic nursing and charting a new course for her career, with the dream of moving permanently from nursing in the hospital setting to an aesthetic clinic.

Expectations for Aesthetics and the Change of Field

Having inside you the desire and attention to care for others with such dedication is not for just anyone. Health professionals know how important it is to be 100% available to care for their patients with quality and competence. Nathalia follows this line. If as a child she already had this desire to care for others, everything intensified when she got older and was able to enter nursing school.

After 10 years working in the hospital setting, she feels the time has come for a change in her life. The long hospital routine ended up being exhausting for Nathalia, who received some recommendations from friends about the aesthetics field and chose to learn more about the sector.

Nathalia says the decision to change has a lot to do with the tiring hospital routine. Despite her love of caring for others, life in hospitals is draining, and she feels the need to change her reality by transforming other people.

NURSE FALLS IN LOVE WITH AESTHETICS

Aesthetics arrived at just the right time for Nathalia who, although she will soon no longer be involved in hospital care, will be able to contribute to her patients’ health and well-being.

“I really like the hospital setting, the patient care side, but it’s a very tiring life that drains a lot of our energy, so aesthetics came along and I’m falling in love with it. I’m still taking care of people, but now with another perspective, with well-being, self-esteem. It’s truly captivating”

Another advantage for Nathalia is her autonomy as an aesthetic professional. Today at the hospital, the day-to-day ends up taking over her personal life. As an aesthetic nurse she can have more control over her schedule and enjoy more leisure time.

“Being able to start my own business, having more autonomy, getting out of this draining routine and setting my own hours is what motivated me”.

The Outlook for Starting in Aesthetics and the Satisfaction of Contributing to Someone’s Happiness

Because of her work as a nurse, Nathalia has not yet worked in aesthetics. She says that for now she will balance both fields. At first she plans to switch from the hospital setting to an outpatient setting so she can also change her hours and see some patients in aesthetics.

She says that in hospitals, care also focuses on the patient’s emotional side, which fits perfectly with aesthetics. Generally, when patients come to aesthetics, they always have some reservation about something.

“We deal with people’s emotions; they always arrive with some complaint or a personal worry. It could be a trauma, a dissatisfaction, and usually by talking we can reassure the person that everything will be fine and they will feel good”.

Being a nurse also has some advantages in better understanding certain patient needs. “For example, in some situations involving body weight, we can order blood tests to check for some hormonal changes; in other words, my nursing degree helps me a lot in that respect”.

Nathalia wants to be a professional with an edge in the market. She wants to look at the patient and their concerns individually. Not treat appointments as a standard. This concern with doing her best to satisfy the patient comes largely from her training as a nurse to humanize care.
