Aesthetic Nurse from SP and Aesthetic Biomedical Professional from PR Choose Aesthetics for Autonomy

Health professionals can specialize in many areas. One of the fastest growing in the world is aesthetics. Besides the financial opportunities, it is a market that also brings autonomy and flexibility, which were important points for this aesthetic nurse and this aesthetic biomedical professional. Learn their story in the next sections.

The story of the aesthetic nurse from SP

“In aesthetics we can value our profession more. Nursing today has a certain natural undervaluation. But when we manage our own work in aesthetics, greater appreciation is created. As a result, the return, both professional and financial, is better.”

A São Paulo native in Paraná

Alex de Miranda de Carvalho Silva is a nurse, lives in Guarujá (SP) and did the hands-on classes of the Aesthetic Nursing course in Curitiba (PR). Here you might ask: why did he leave São Paulo to do the clinical immersion in Paraná?

The reason is that this specialization is flexible. As classes open up, students can study at different campuses. Alex could have waited to study in SP, but since he was in a hurry, he decided to travel to PR. He says:

“I live in Guarujá (SP) and came to Curitiba (PR) to take the clinical immersion classes for a matter of logistics and scheduling. I needed to finish the practice in less time, so I preferred to come here now rather than wait for a class to open in São Paulo.”

He also explains more about this. “This way of doing the theory classes online and the hands-on classes in person according to our availability is more flexible for completing the postgraduate program because we don't have to depend so much on work, studies and routine.”

For those who don't know, Nepuga's postgraduate program has a hybrid format. This way, students first watch classes online, on the internet, at any time of day. “Having the class online is much easier because it's recorded and you never miss the content.”

The choice of Aesthetic Nursing

The aesthetic nurse tells why he chose nursing. “I knew people who were hospitalized, so I followed the profession up close and ended up developing an interest.” That is why he entered the undergraduate program.

Then came experience in the job market working in imaging, MRI and tomography. “I never worked in the hospital area or inpatient care. I followed a more outpatient side of the patient.”

Next came the choice of aesthetics. For Alex, it was like a maturing of his training. In his research, the nurse saw the specialization options for his profession. “I noticed aesthetics, which I already knew. So I decided to follow that path.”

Today he still works in more traditional nursing, but is planning his future as an aesthetics entrepreneur. And the reasons include benefits such as autonomy, flexibility and much more. The aesthetic nurse also commented on this:

“I really like the autonomy. You can manage your work and your time. And I also really like the patient's feedback. When we deliver a good result and it's what the patient came looking for, it's very satisfying.”

The story of the aesthetic biomedical professional from PR

“Working in aesthetics, I believe I'll have more time for myself, more time for my daughter and more time for my family. I also believe the financial return will be nice.”

From the hospital to aesthetics

Camila Barbaresco de Andrade is a biomedical professional and lives in Curitiba (PR). But, unlike Alex, she chose to do the clinical immersion in her own city. She explains this by saying she has a small daughter, 2 years old, which would make a longer trip unnecessary.

She says she has always liked the health field and found biomedicine a very interesting degree to have on her résumé. “I really liked the laboratory, hematology for example. That's why I fell in love and entered college in 2010.”

Today she works as a biomedical professional in a clinical analysis laboratory. The routine is Monday to Friday, 6 hours a day. Barbaresco says she also works shifts on alternate Saturdays, with 12 hours of work on those days.

The aesthetic biomedical professional says she does like working in the laboratory. However, she decided to change specialization because she has a small daughter, 2 years old. So she began to see the need for a better quality of life and more time for her family.

“The laboratory is a really nice area. I like it. But I work in the hospital area and it's quite stressful. We are under pressure and dealing with diseases all the time. So I believe I'll be happier in my personal life in aesthetics.”

The choice of Aesthetic Nursing

From this need, the aesthetic biomedical professional assesses that the chance of working on her own and owning her business will be viable for what she needs at this current point in her life. “You can organize your schedule.”

Camila says the heavy routine, which is what she has now, was decisive in her career change. “And for me, one of the things I insisted on most to move toward this is because she spends the whole day at school.”

And she continues: “Life is very stressful for her, a 2-year-old who has to spend the whole day at school. I want to spend more time with her. I want to offer her quality of life. Organize my schedule. It's something I dream about a lot”.

As for choosing the postgraduateprogram, in the biomedical professional's view, the hands-on classes have been great. So, in each one she sees an opportunity to grow and learn something new. “So, in aesthetics, I always learn something new.”

To finish, she assesses aesthetic biomedicine today this way: “ Aesthetics for biomedical professionals has advanced a lot in recent years. Seven years ago, when I graduated, there was very little talk about aesthetic biomedicine. Today it is super advanced.”
