Aesthetic Pharmacist leaves the drugstore to change her life in Aesthetics

The longing to work in health has always touched the heart of aesthetic pharmacist Dr. Wanessa Vieira Pereira. But medicine, one of the first careers that comes to mind for those who want to work with people's health, was not in her plans. Her wish was to work indirectly, so pharmacy was her best option.

Five years after graduating, Dr. Wanessa decided to change the tracks of her career. She remembered that she had always liked cosmetics and the field of Aesthetics a lot, and when everyone around her said she had the profile of professionals in the field, she did not hesitate and sought her specialization in Aesthetic Pharmacy.

Learn a bit about the Aesthetic Pharmacist's story and her career plans in this Success Story.

Interest in Aesthetic Pharmacy

The aesthetic pharmacist was always fascinated by the field of aesthetics, so much so that her plan was to work in cosmetics production.

“But then I saw the market was changing, I saw that pharmacists were getting more into Advanced Aesthetics, so I became interested in the training,” she says.

That was when she found Nepuga, because many of her colleagues were specializing in Aesthetic Pharmacy at the institution (IES) and recommended it to her.

Achieving her dream and specializing in Aesthetic Pharmacy comes with many challenges; however, the desire to change her life was always greater. Dr. Wanessa travels from her city, Araruama-RJ, in the lakes region, to the capital of Rio just to do her clinical immersion.

“I need to plan my day to come here, there's a whole planning and investment for me to be able to make this project happen”, she explains.

‘Drugstores take up a lot of time’

After graduating, Dr. Wanessa entered the drugstore job market, and that is where she is currently. The aesthetic pharmacist says that working in that area is exhausting and deprives you of many opportunities.

“We know the drugstore is a line of business that takes up a lot of your time, keeps you tied down, even more so nowadays with many (drugstores) opening on Sundays and holidays”, she explains.

Behind the counters of big pharmacy chains there are not only pharmacists, but also missed birthdays of family and friends, a sport or hobby no longer practiced, among other activities there is no time (or energy) to do because of a pharmacist's exhausting working hours.

Besides identifying with the field, pharmacists seek Aesthetic Health precisely as a way out of the exhausting routine they experience in drugstores. Dr. Wanessa combined business with pleasure by choosing to specialize in Aesthetic Pharmacy and currently wants to have more time for herself and go deeper into the field she loves so much.

“I've been in this line of work since I graduated and I want to change, I want to start my own business, have my own practice, set my own hours, so I chose to learn more and dive into the aesthetics field”, says the aesthetic pharmacist.

Aesthetic Pharmacist: raising self-esteem and well-being

Besides all the schedule freedom, autonomy, and financial return a professional can achieve by specializing in Aesthetic Pharmacy, there is also the factor of contributing to the happiness and quality of life of other people.

“You help improve someone's self-esteem, because you see so many people who want to improve and, for us, it may not make that much difference, but for her it makes a lot. We feel satisfied to leave someone better off,” concludes the aesthetic pharmacist.
