Feeling Stuck in a Lab Routine, Biomedical Professional Finds New Challenges and Opportunities in Aesthetics

Tired of the rigid reality of work devoted to clinical analysis, this biomedical professional glimpsed a different possibility for himself in one of the leading specialties when it comes to financial return and a flexible career in health. Getting to know the opportunities in aesthetics, he found a solution to everything that had been discouraging him in his career.

Graduating in 2006, Dr. Bruno Felipe de Carvalho began working in the field in 2010, serving everywhere from the administrative side to the more technical laboratory work, and even became the owner of a small chain of laboratories, to which he devoted himself for about 10 years.

The rigid reality of clinical analysis laboratories

He also worked at a municipal health department, but after that experience he says he couldn't readjust to the reality of a laboratory.

“The lab has a very rigid reality, the days are practically all the same, and that excitement of having a new challenge every day appeals to me a lot, so that's why I decided to make a change once again in life, to start in a new field, in aesthetics,” he says.

Dr. Bruno grew tired of that tedious routine, which many health professionals believe they are doomed to, spending years and years of their lives living with constant professional unhappiness.

Discovering this new and vibrant opportunity, he now sees a future abundant in autonomy, and is excited to work for as long as he wants, because his quality of life will allow it. His words on the subject:

“The clinical analyst career is very massive, exhausting, so I ended up choosing aesthetics precisely for that reason: to have a better quality of life and be able to extend my work comfortably until I'm 60, 80 years old, which I wouldn't be able to do in clinical analysis.”

Discovering the specialty of Aesthetics

Like a light, the solution that came with the possibility of becoming an aesthetic biomedical professional switched on for Bruno when he attended a trade show in São Paulo, where he had the chance to see demonstrations of equipment used in aesthetic procedures, along with a more complete projection of the market for this very promising field.

Opportunities in aesthetics on the national scene

With the aging of the Brazilian population, demand is growing for procedures that improve skin firmness, stimulate collagen production, promote hydration, and soften and prevent wrinkles.

In managing aging, the sector finds relevance, but not only there. The constant evolution of technologies and methods involving aesthetic health has arrived at a time when information spreads easily. As a result, more and more people have access to the options available to resolve aesthetic concerns that can have a negative impact on quality of life and well-being.

Personal experiences shaping the aesthetic biomedical professional's market vision

Dr. Bruno is especially interested in body aesthetics solutions. Because of a weight loss process he went through in his own life and its positive consequences for his well-being, his interest in the field grew considerably. Working in aesthetic biomedicine, he will be able to help many people feel as good as he does in this respect.

The aesthetic biomedical professional also presents another market view based on his own experiences: he sees demand to be met in men's aesthetics, through appointments and aesthetic clinics designed by and for men. He thus considers that many men would feel more comfortable being treated by other men.

So, in a market dominated by women professionals, Dr. Bruno sees a possible differentiator for steering his career.

As he puts it: “A man doesn't go to the hair salon to get a haircut, he goes to the barber, so who knows, maybe in the future we'll have an environment where men feel more at ease, a man being treated by another man.”

“Today I feel confident performing the procedures”

At the time of publication of this text, Dr. Bruno has just completed the specialization in Aesthetic Biomedicine, and already sees a very promising outlook for his future. Believing in dedication as a career engine, he applied himself and used the postgraduate program's resources to his advantage.

So, he already feels confident performing the aesthetic procedures he has been exposed to. After completing all the supervised clinical immersions, practicing with a variety of real patients backed by a solid foundation, he sees himself ready to forge the career he dreamed of when he discovered aesthetic biomedicine.
