Aesthetic Biology: Dr. Fabiola Finds Joy in Promoting People's Well-Being

She has been a biologist for more than 20 years, a career chosen at just 16, which made Dr. Fabíola Resstel fall in love with anatomy. In this field she worked as a teacher, in laboratories, and in everything a biologist was qualified to do.

However, after a few years she realized that the career she was following did not match her personality, the joy she loved, and the way she had always approached life. And while looking for aesthetic procedures to take care of herself, she realized that she also wanted to give other people the joy and well-being she was feeling.

That is how the biologist discovered she could do much more through Aesthetic Biology, both for herself and for others, and decided to change the course of her career. Learn Dr. Fabíola's story in this Success Story.

Aesthetic Biology: a field of beauty, self-esteem, and joy

The question that never left the biologist's mind was why biologists, who are health professionals and study anatomy intensively, were still not authorized to work in Aesthetic Health like other categories of health professionals.

“Before the resolution on Aesthetic Biology was released, I thought about studying biomedicine, because biomedical professionals can work in Aesthetics, and I'm already in the field, so maybe I could skip some subjects and then work with what I want: people's beauty and self-esteem, making them happy,” she says.

It took a while, but it happened, and Fabíola did not need to start a new undergraduate degree. Brazil's Federal Council of Biology created Resolution No. 582/2020, which authorizes biologists to work in Aesthetic Health, and that was what she needed to start her dream and change her life.

“I was super happy. I really like the aesthetics field, it's a field that is growing a lot, but it's not just that. You're working with beauty, with self-esteem, with people's happiness, and that matters to me, because I'm a cheerful person, so I like joy,” says Dr. Fabíola.

And joy is something the Aesthetic Biology postgraduate student did not see much of in her day-to-day, since a laboratory can be a colder environment than you might imagine.

“And today I work in a research laboratory, so I work with disease, with pain and sadness, and I don't want that for the rest of my life. I want to work with joy, with people's well-being, I want to make people more beautiful and happier, so I found myself,” the biologist says.

Entrepreneurship and financial return in Aesthetic Biology

The high financial return that the Aesthetic Health field offers is something that catches the attention of health professionals. And in a conversation with a friend who is an aesthetic biomedical professional, Dr. Fabíola confirmed this and got another incentive to move into the aesthetics market.

“She told me this field is very good and that the financial return really is very good and that, maybe, I'll be able to break away from all my other jobs and work only in aesthetics and make a living from it,” she adds.

For this reason, Dr. Fabíola, who is not yet working in the field, has as her biggest dream opening her own clinic and is already looking at some properties in her city, Campinas-SP.

“I am very fulfilled with what I'm doing. And a person has to go after what they want and what they like in order to work with what they love. To be a fulfilled person, because a person who does what they love does it well,” she concludes.
