Aesthetic Nursing: The Flexible Schedule That Let Dr. Talita Care for Her Son

For many nurses, the postgraduate program in Aesthetic Nursing is a new path away from on-call shifts and the exhausting routines of hospitals and emergency rooms. But for Dr. Talita Miazzo, a student in the Aesthetic Nursing Postgraduate Program at Nepuga, the specialization doesn't just bring the benefits of a less intense routine.

With the postgraduate program in Aesthetic Nursing, she found the possibility of having more time and working according to her availability, so she could be with her son, who needs a lot of care because he is autistic.

Learn more about the story of Dr. Talita Miazzo, who now balances her work and study routine with caring for her son.

A change of routine: Aesthetic Nursing as a solution

After eight years working in hospitals, Dr. Talita's routine had always been very intense. Even after her son was born, she tried to balance her professional life in emergency care with her family.

But everything changed when Dr. Talita received the news about her son. Diagnosed with autism, the aesthetic nurse saw her life change drastically overnight.

“I ran into my son's situation, because he is autistic. I recently received the diagnosis and now I need to dedicate myself more to him. Almost every day I have to take him to therapy, among other things, and with the shifts, even working nights, it was very hard”, she explained.

With night work, the Aesthetic Nursing student would get home after her shift and needed to devote herself completely to her son, which began to become unsustainable.

“I would get home after 12-hour shifts followed by 36 hours off and couldn't rest. Only on Fridays does he not have therapy, but I take care of him just the same, and like that it's very hard to balance.”

That was when she found the Aesthetic Nursing postgraduate program at Nepuga. Dr. Talita already knew the aesthetics market, but had never thought of specializing in the field. Only when she discovered that she could set her own hours, and so manage to care for her son, did Aesthetic Nursing become an option.

Much more than a flexible schedule: the financial return

Today, Dr. Talita balances hospital work, her studies, and her routine with her son. “I can't say it's easy. I'm managing to balance it. Is it tiring? Yes, it is tiring, but in the end it will be worth it”, says the postgraduate student.

Even without having finished the specialization in Aesthetic Nursing, soon after the start of the Clinical Immersion at Nepuga, she has already begun seeing patients. Since she has experience in the beauty field, she started offering some specific procedures she already has the skill to perform.

“I'm already seeing patients. I started promoting my work in the field and I perform some procedures I already have the skill for. And it's shocking that, even without doing everything the specialization allows me to do, I already have a great financial return. It makes a nice difference in my income, and that's while I'm still at the beginning, with the basics. I can't imagine when I truly start practicing the profession!”, said Dr. Talita.

Planning for the future in Aesthetic Nursing

Even though she is already seeing patients in the field, Dr. Talita has expectations for the future: she plans to open a clinic as soon as she finishes the postgraduate program in Aesthetic Nursing.

“What I want most is to open my own business as soon as I have my certificate in hand, because I will be qualified to perform all the Aesthetic Health procedures permitted for nurses”, she said enthusiastically.

But her main expectation is to leave the hospital completely and be able to devote more time to her son. Since she has not yet finished the specialization in Aesthetic Nursing, Dr. Talita is splitting her work time between the emergency room and aesthetics.

“I already see the financial return and it's very good. However, I believe that to start a business and have the security I need to offer my son, I plan to make a career transition and balance, for at most about three months, the hospital routine and the aesthetics routine”, concluded Dr. Talita.
