Aesthetic Pharmacy – Dr. Prisciane Gualberto Makes Her Dream Come True

Dr. Prisciane Gualberto Cavalcante is 36 years old and was born and lives in the state of Minas Gerais. She chose Aesthetic Pharmacy for a different reason.

Unlike many Success Stories, where the students' main motivation was balancing career and family, the specialist was looking to find herself in a profession.

Single, with no children, and passionate about music and traveling with friends, Dr. Prisciane had a long journey before finding her field. Today she holds a degree in Pharmacy, a postgraduate degree in clinical pharmacology, and is a specialist in Aesthetic Pharmacy. She describes her challenges:

“I started my Pharmacy degree at Universidade Vale do Rio Doce (UNIVALE), but because of personal and financial problems I had to put college on hold after three semesters. During the year my enrollment was suspended, I studied for the ENEM (Brazil's national college entrance exam) and got a 100% PROUNI scholarship (Brazil's university scholarship program) at Faculdade Pitágoras de Ipatinga. I moved there and finished my degree in 2011.”

Despite all her effort to finish her degree, Dr. Prisciane says that this was never her dream from the start, “I decided to study Pharmacy because of the influence of my mother, my cousin and a friend, but it was not my dream to take this course.”

Even though she already sensed this was not what she wanted for herself, she worked for a few months at a retail drugstore, and then for 7 years as a pharmacist at the Family Health Support Center (NASF) in the city of Mathias Lobato-MG.

“During all those years I did not find myself in the profession. I did a postgraduate program in clinical pharmacology and hospital pharmacy and still did not find myself in the profession. One day, browsing the Internet, I saw that there was a postgraduate program in Aesthetic Pharmacy, and that is when I thought, this is how I'm going to find myself,” the specialist says.

Finding Aesthetic Pharmacy

Looking for a higher education institution (IES) to specialize, she found Nepuga/FAPUGA and enrolled. “I chose this field because I love caring for people with my own hands and I love the beauty field. I chose Nepuga for its excellence in aesthetics, and because I knew the story of Dr. Ana Carolina Puga and that she was a pioneer in Aesthetic Biomedicine.”

After completing the Postgraduate Program in Aesthetic Pharmacy in 2019, Dr. Prisciane Gualberto says that for lack of time she was not able to work in aesthetics, but in 2020 she managed to set up her treatment room with her family's help. “Since then I have been seeing patients after I leave my job at the pharmacy and on weekends. Right now I am taking some courses to specialize further, and I plan to grow in aesthetics and dedicate myself more to this beautiful field.”

Little by little, the specialist has been winning over patients and investing more and more in her career, where she has finally found herself and achieved professional fulfillment. “God willing, I see myself with my big, beautiful clinic just the way I always dreamed, and as a well-respected Aesthetic Pharmacist in the beauty market.”
