Pharmacist with a technologist degree in aesthetics and cosmetology enrolls in specialization to keep up with the aesthetics market

In today's case study, we will present the very successful story of Janaína Bezerra. Her goal was to enroll in a specialization to keep up with the aesthetics market. Pharmacist, technologist in aesthetics and cosmetology, postgraduate in dermatofunctional, undergraduate professor, and program coordinator. The résumé of this professional from Rio de Janeiro is something many people would be proud of, right? Yet even with so many qualifications, Janaína recognizes the importance of continuing to study and is pursuing another specialization in aesthetics so she can keep delivering incredible results to her patients.

Active in the field since the 2000s, Janaína is experienced, and with so many qualifications she has won over many patients in the last two decades. Her résumé as a pharmacist also contributed a great deal to her aesthetics practice. Her training led her to teach undergraduate courses, and she even coordinated programs. In 24 years of practice, she has already built her own office and a significant client base, and she does not want to fall behind on the new trends in the field.

Her journey in the world of aesthetics

Her studies did not stop there. Focused on her career, she decided to also pursue a postgraduate program. She says her area of interest was dermatofunctional. That was when she became an undergraduate professor and turned her knowledge into a learning tool for new aesthetics professionals.

“I started in 2000 as a Technician at another institution, and when the first class of the Technologist program was launched here in Brazil, in Rio de Janeiro, I took it (Technologist in aesthetics and cosmetology). Right after that I did a postgraduate program in Aesthetic Dermatofunctional, and then I started teaching undergraduate courses and even coordinated a few programs.”

Many might think that would already be enough specializations to become a great professional, but Janaína wanted more. To complement her skills, she enrolled in an undergraduate degree in Pharmacy, and after completing it she began working in the field.

“After those two programs I did the undergraduate degree in Pharmacy. It was advantageous for me in terms of adding value to formulations. I also worked in the field: compounding pharmacy, hospital pharmacy, and I even did a postgraduate program in Hospital Pharmacy.”

Janaína also has a master's degree on her résumé. Her master's thesis was on melasma within aesthetics using essential oils. She currently continues as a professor at two institutions, a technical program and an undergraduate program, in aesthetics and in pharmacy.

The search to keep up with the aesthetics market

Janaína owns an office in Rio de Janeiro and says that the pharmacy degree brought major changes to her work as an aesthetician. Enrolling now in the specialization in Aesthetic Pharmacy is, for her, a way to stay up to date with what the market has to offer and to meet what companies look for in a professional. Janaína is yet another example of how specialization can revolutionize your career in aesthetics.

Having her clinic in Rio de Janeiro is very good for her. According to her perception of the market, even though her clinic is in a more distant neighborhood, her clientele is loyal and regular. “It is a very good field, we never go without work. Anyone in aesthetics in Rio rarely goes without work; the important thing is to know what you want to specialize in and focus.”

Now, with the specialization, Janaína has even more career goals. Including the most advanced procedures such as injectables, she feels she will have more treatment options and that this will be reflected in her performance as a professional. She plans to develop her classes as a professor and perhaps become a technical lead in Aesthetic Pharmacy and, of course, continue with her clinic, which has brought her good returns.

Janaína Bezerra's story with aesthetics begins in 2000. That year she had her first contact with aesthetics by taking her first technical course. Janaína also took part in the first technologist program in Brazil, held in Rio de Janeiro, where she graduated in aesthetics and cosmetology in 2000. At the turn of the millennium, this incredible professional's journey with the world of aesthetics was beginning.
