Even with two degrees, Danila Miranda from Minas Gerais, a biomedical professional and pharmacist, chooses aesthetics for her professional growth
Danila first graduated in Biomedicine. For her, the health field was always on her mind, so after finishing her first degree, she decided to study pharmacy as well.
Always fascinated by the health field, she says she has a real appreciation for the study of medications and their active ingredients.
Not seeing herself on any other path, Danila weighed her opportunities and saw that the growth of the aesthetics market was a step worth taking.
Facing an important decision, she is pursuing her specialization and adding aesthetics training to her credentials as a biomedical professional and pharmacist.
She currently works at a pharmacy as the pharmacist in charge, but she already dreams of soon winning her place in aesthetics.
“Knowledge of medications is an opening”: experience to move forward in aesthetics
Having a good understanding of how the whole process works in a given field is important for doing good work. Danila is a step ahead in that respect: with a degree in biomedicine followed by one in pharmacy, her education gives her important knowledge about medications and studies of their active ingredients.
She says this was one of the factors that led her to choose a specialization in aesthetics, along with the financial return the career offers professionals. “I started getting interested in aesthetics because of the financial return the field offers. Of course, knowledge of medications and active ingredients is also an interesting opening to explore.”
With the training from both degrees, Danila is combining the useful with the enjoyable to enter the aesthetics field.
From the pharmacy to her own clinic
Even though she graduated in Biomedicine, Danila chose to work in her second field. Today she is the head pharmacist at a drugstore and works 44 hours a week. The move to aesthetics is precisely to prioritize and make better use of her free time so she can enjoy moments of leisure. “My workload is really heavy. Aesthetics comes to help with that, to take the weight of the hours off me and give me more freedom at work.”
With the wish to open her own clinic, she aims to gain the greater autonomy the field offers. “I want to be able to use more of my weekends, travel with my family, enjoy my free time, which the drugstore restricts quite a lot.”
With the aim of becoming an entrepreneur, she already plans to finish her specialization and open her own clinic. She says she already has her financial savings set aside so that, at the end of the postgraduate program, she can invest in a space to see her patients. “I am already saving up my little nest egg so I can invest and open my clinic. I am sure it will all work out.”
Combining experiences benefits professionals
Contact with other professionals during the clinical immersions, such as aesthetic biomedical professionals, aesthetic pharmacists, and others, tends to bring growth to those seeking specialization. For Danila, this encounter is very valuable since it brings together many experiences with the same goal. “In the clinical immersions we are able to combine knowledge, and that contributes to our growth. There are so many professionals, and each one sharing what they know makes our résumé even stronger.”
Danila also intends to bring that collaboration to the job market. When asked which area of aesthetics she wants to pursue, she says that interacting with other segments is what delights her most. “I really like facial harmonization, which I do not plan to give up, but I will combine it with weight loss and partnerships with gyms, to do multidisciplinary work and have the support of nutritionists, for example.”
Danila is the kind of person who knows what she wants and what she needs to do to get there. Determined, she invests in her development and has no limits when it comes to achieving what she wants.
