Beatriz Caramelo, a young woman who graduated in Biomedicine in 2022, brings with her a story intertwined with aesthetics since she was 12 years old. The daughter of a hair salon owner, Beatriz grew up immersed in that world, beginning to help out and training professionally to work with quality alongside her mother. Now graduated, the aesthetic biomedical professional reaps the financial rewards of her specialization, with the chance to see her own clients, and dreams of expanding professionally and taking new flight. Her first contact with aesthetics was through the salon, but her journey led her to explore areas such as makeup, eyebrow design, and, eventually, the postgraduate program in aesthetics.
From Young Apprentice to Aesthetic Biomedical Professional – The Entrepreneur’s Journey
Alongside her mother, Beatriz found herself involved with well-being and self-esteem from very early on. At just 12 she began helping out in her mother’s beauty salon, where she grew fond of and passionate about everything related to beauty. Over the years, Beatriz became more and more involved, improving her performance and acquiring new skills, which brought her new clients and opportunities in this field.
Initially, Beatriz took a vocational course to work with more confidence and qualification with her salon clients. It was during this period of experience that she came into contact with makeup and eyebrow work, until she had the chance to enter a biomedicine degree. She says, in a very fun way, that her desire for biomedicine came from wanting to apply toxin to patients’ eyebrows to even out the difference usually caused by the asymmetry of some faces, which, according to her, is one of the biggest complaints from patients in the pigmentation procedure.

However, upon entering the field of Biomedicine, she fell deeply in love with the facial side, especially after completing her undergraduate thesis (TCC), which focused on evaluating patients before any aesthetic procedure through lab tests, in order to ensure their health and the effectiveness of the procedure.
“When I started, I was focused on toxin applications, but during the program and even in my thesis, I fell in love with the body area. My conclusion was based on the importance of evaluating the whole patient, through lab tests, before performing any procedure. That’s something I won’t compromise on. It’s extremely important to me.”
To keep improving and qualifying herself, Beatriz decided to enroll in a specialization in aesthetics, and so, a friend recommended Nepuga, even before her graduation ceremony, showing great interest in her professional growth.
She entered the specialization thinking she would be more interested in body aesthetics, but discovered a taste for several areas, becoming unsure about which one to pursue.

Aesthetic Biomedical Professional Reaps the Rewards of Her Specialization as a Business Owner
Working alongside her mother since age 12, moving from helper to professional, developing her skills more every day, made this experience even more valuable, building the responsibility and commitment needed to be a successful entrepreneur.
“When I turned 18 I started working on my own. We share the same space but now I have my own clients and my own hours. Leaving “my mother’s wing” was a very good process, but also very hard. Being a business owner is not easy. You need a lot of responsibility, a lot of commitment, working while sick, thinking about work from the time you wake up until the time you go to sleep. It sounds like a cliché, but I fell in love with the entrepreneur’s world.”
Living in a small town, Beatriz sees not only local residents but also people from neighboring areas. Her pursuit of client safety has always been her priority, and the fear of complications during aesthetic procedures is one of the main drivers of her constant improvement. It is with this mindset that she keeps winning more and more clients. She believes that aesthetics goes far beyond the external and that it is crucial to provide real benefits to patients, promoting self-love and self-esteem.

“I will always defend the idea that a good professional shares all the information with the patient to explain the reasons for performing that procedure. Doing a treatment only because the patient wants it is not always the best thing for them. Safety and trust will come with conversation, explaining the reasons for everything we are doing. As I mentioned, I prefer to evaluate the patient individually and through tests that show me better ways to make that treatment viable and enhance it.”
“Be a responsible professional”
As for the future of Aesthetic Biomedicine in her career, Beatriz hopes to keep working safely, offering the best to her patients. She does not intend to perform procedures that aren’t indicated just to please the client or for profit, but rather to explain in detail the needs and reasons behind each procedure. Beatriz believes it is essential for the patient to trust the professional and the knowledge she has, always aiming for satisfaction and mutual trust.
Beatriz carries an entrepreneurial spirit and has already put her project into motion to become a great professional. Dedicated to her development, she sets goals that are bearing good fruit. Her entrepreneurial vision turned the little 12-year-old girl into a professional with a future full of achievements.
