For aesthetic biomedical professional Dr. Izabelle Pinheiro, working in Aesthetics was always her career plan. While studying Biomedicine in Belém-PA, she realized her future was not inside laboratories and hospitals.
Her first step was to start researching how a biomedical professional could work in Aesthetic Health. She found some courses in facial, body and injectable aesthetics, and in the midst of her research she found Dr. Ana Carolina Puga.
In 2013, Nepuga already had several classes of postgraduate programs in Aesthetic Health for health professionals, and Dr. Ana Carolina also taught many standalone courses. As soon as she found out, Dr. Izabelle left the northern region and traveled to Ribeirão Preto-SP to be trained by the Mother of Aesthetic Biomedicine.
“I took an injectables course and, right from the start, I made friendships that encouraged me to continue. In the class, I was the only one who hadn't graduated yet (I would graduate at the end of 2013), so, seeing people already in aesthetic biomedicine, others moving from clinical analysis into Aesthetics, I became very enthusiastic. People welcomed me and I decided to start the postgraduate program,”says the aesthetic biomedical professional.
Today, Dr. Izabelle has her own clinic in Belém, and in this article you will learn a little about the aesthetic biomedical professional's success story.
Aesthetic Biomedicine as plan A
It was in 2013 that Dr. Izabelle started her Postgraduate Program in Aesthetic Biomedicine, at Nepuga in São Paulo, in the institution's first classes. She says she always had a great thirst for learning and went to class very happily.
Aesthetics became her plan A, so much so that she never worked in clinical analysis, only interned, as required by her university.
“I chose Aesthetic Biomedicine because I saw that I couldn't stay in a closed and rigid field like the one biomedicine offered. I discovered that I like taking care of people, having direct contact,”she explains.
The investment in her career and in training was essential for Dr. Izabelle to get to where she is today.
“In the beginning, my parents helped me a lot, so I was able to start and make this investment in courses, because knowledge is the most important thing.”
Success in entrepreneurship
After specializing and feeling confident performing a wide range of aesthetic procedures on patients, the aesthetic biomedical professional kicked off her career. In 2015, Dr. Izabelle started her own business and opened her practice in Belém/PA.
“At the beginning of my career it was that struggle of chasing after clients, it was mostly referrals. And today, even with the internet, most of my clients are referrals too. I'm more active on Instagram now and I'm managing to bring in clients from there,” says the aesthetic biomedical professional.
As happens with every entrepreneur, Dr. Izabelle went through some difficulties in the following years; however, it was during the pandemic that she managed to get back on her feet.
“When I thought everything was going to go wrong, after the lockdown ended, clients started to increase and many referrals came in. So last year I moved, because I was in a small office, and today I have my own clinic.”
The aesthetic biomedical professional's space has an esthetician and will soon have a nutritionist and interns, all so that appointments can multiply. Revenue also has nowhere to go but up, even though it is already excellent working alone.
“Working alone, and I don't even need to have every time slot filled, I manage to bill between R$ 25,000 and R$ 30,000 a month, all depending on the day-to-day work,”she reveals.
According to her, in the first months of the year there is always a drop in demand, but the secret is to focus on management, set goals and keep working to get through those harder months.
The Aesthetic Biomedical Professional's edge
With more than 7 years in the Aesthetic Biomedicine market, Dr. Izabelle attributes her success to her edge, which is spending quality time with her client.
According to the aesthetic biomedical professional, the best tool is working without rushing, giving attention to each patient, holding a good consultation and understanding what the client wants and what she can do best for them.
“For me, there is nothing better than delivering a quality result that lasts over the long term, because it's no use doing procedures that are just a ‘Cinderella effect.’ I like to deliver a result where the person goes a while doing only maintenance,”she explains.
In addition, Dr. Izabelle makes a point of following her patients closely, holding a ‘post-consultation’ and not leaving them on their own, because the maintenance they do at home is essential for effective results. Not to mention that failing to stay close and caring toward the patient can lead them to seek another specialist.
Flexibility and freedom: strengths of Aesthetic Biomedicine
One of the strongest points a career in Aesthetic Biomedicine offers is flexible hours for professionals. Besides working with patients' quality of life and well-being, the aesthetic biomedical professional can also have a lighter, more flexible routine.
“I have really nice freedom with my time, I can take care of my things between one appointment and the next. In our profession we really can improve our daily lives, take better care of ourselves, and I've been doing a lot of that, having more quality time,”emphasizes Dr. Izabelle.
The aesthetic biomedical professional stresses that working in Aesthetic Health isn't just about the financial side, but that it is essential to look at each patient with care and commitment.
“I am very grateful to Dr. Ana Carolina Puga, who from the beginning and to this day is constantly pursuing and defending Aesthetic Biomedicine; she is truly there like a mother protecting her children. And she also managed to help other health fields that stand beside us so that we can create a quality aesthetics with a name and, above all, bring more health and well-being to our patients,”she concludes.
