Nurse Anne Carolina works in hospital care in São Paulo. She was part of a team at a leading hospital during COVID, and now, to keep caring for people, she plans to become an aesthetic nurse.
Anne says that during the pandemic she experienced many sad cases, and those moments made her rethink her future in nursing. While still caring for Covid-19 patients, she came across the postgraduate program. She admits she is passionate about hospital care, but felt the need to change her perspective and enter the specialization.
Starting over or beginning a new professional path takes dedication and commitment. Anne acknowledges that hospital care is her passion, and her training as a nurse only strengthens this move toward aesthetic health.
She also reveals that she has always been drawn to the aesthetics field, and when the chance to specialize came up, she decided to start the postgraduate program. “I like the aesthetics field. When I found Nepuga, through social media during the worst period of the pandemic, I decided to work in the field.”
With so many lives lost during the pandemic, she realized her happiness would be in an aesthetics career, where she plans to open her own clinic.
The courage to change: from financial stability, she plans to become an aesthetic nurse
As a nurse, Anne, besides saving lives, often sees herself as a friend to her patients. She listens to their stories, their pain, their joys. She makes her care go beyond medical service and become a moment of comfort.
As an aesthetic nurse, she can contribute more moments of joy. “In hospital care, we listen to patients, we deal with other people's pain, with their experience, much of what also happens in aesthetics, but with a focus on beauty, which is tied to happier situations”.
Having the courage to change your choices is an important step toward defining our future. Anne said she is very sure of this decision and will not regret choosing a new path for her career.
With the growing demand for aesthetic procedures, the possibilities and opportunities she will find along the way in her new profession are encouraging and put her at ease about the change.
Being aware of the challenges and preparing to face them are the foundations of a professional determined to reach new horizons. And Anne is not alone. Recently, there are many nursing professionals who have chosen to pursue a career in aesthetics.
Escaping the routine and the freedom of working in aesthetics
Anne still works at a hospital. As a civil-service employee hired by public exam, her financial stability, she says, is good, but the freedom aesthetics offers captivates her more, giving her the chance to organize her schedule better, enjoy more moments with her family and escape the routine.
“I work 12 × 36 shifts, 10 to 12 shifts a month. In aesthetics we can build our own schedule, our own calendar. That lets us travel, go out and enjoy life more.”
Specialization, training and a focus on the future are among her goals
Training is Anne's focus. She plans to open her own clinic, and for that she has taken several courses to prepare for the job market, in addition to absorbing the experiences she encounters in clinical immersion.
Her goal is to work only in aesthetics, and for that she seeks to specialize and understand her patients' needs so she can provide quality service that lives up to what she plans for her career.
“I plan to open my own clinic. I'm focused on that, studying, improving myself to work for myself. As I mentioned, because I'm a civil-service employee I have my stability, but I don't plan to stay. I see aesthetics as a more promising path for me right now.”
