Working independently is the goal of many health professionals. And nursing programs generally keep traditional teaching standards and show the same paths for building a career. Aesthetic Nursing is an alternative to that.
Emergency room, ICU, obstetrics, operating room. The career options offered within a nursing degree were no longer exactly what Dr. Beatriz da Silva Rebelo was looking for in her life.
In today's article, get to know the story of the 24-year-old postgraduate student who found in Aesthetic Nursing the chance to build an entrepreneurial career.
Dreams: health, aesthetics and entrepreneurship
Since taking the college entrance exam, Beatriz already knew she wanted to work in health care, but she didn't yet know her specialty.
“I always identified with caring for people, with humanized care, promoting health, in short, with being around people,”she says.
So she chose to study nursing and give her best in the profession she had chosen.
“I was always very involved in college, I was part of an academic league, I had a scholarship at Hospital Irmã Dulce, in Salvador, in the ICU, I did undergraduate research, and then a professor noticed me and invited me to be a clinical internship supervisor at a university,”she reveals.

She is also currently a teacher in a nursing technical course. Even though she had already earned her place in the field so quickly, she wanted to do something more, in line with the original purpose that led her to choose her profession.
Of two goals, one had been achieved: working in health care. However, Dr. Beatriz also hopes to have her own business one day, to be an entrepreneur in the field, and she saw that opportunity in Aesthetic Health.
“So I kept researching and learning about different areas, and the one I identified with most was Aesthetics, which landed in my life out of nowhere. It's an area on the rise and, personally, I really like the beauty side of it, promoting someone's self-esteem,”she says.

Postgraduate Program in Aesthetic Nursing
Through recommendations from professional friends, she got to know Nepuga and chose the institution for her specialization, which finishes in January.
“I plan to get into aesthetics as soon as possible, but since I'm still a nursing instructor, I have a tight schedule. But as soon as I finish the postgraduate program I'm going to invest in a business of my own,”she reveals.
The nurse says she is already planning and intends to invest everything she can to become a successful professional and fully enter the aesthetics field, both in patient care and in teaching.
“My path is still being drawn, written little by little, involving many dreams, plans, studies, difficulties, happy moments and learning,”she reflects.
For those who still have doubts about specializing, the young doctor offers some advice: “Specializing is essential. You need to be a specialist in what you want to work in, you need to give your patients confidence and be sure of what you're doing,”she concludes.
The aesthetics trend has also reached biology, find out how!
