Recognizing the need in the body aesthetics market, Prof. Dr. Ana Carolina Puga, MSc invited Dr. Antony Barbosa, a leading expert in the field, to design a MasterClass course on Body Harmonization and High Performance that aims to stand out from the rest through an exclusive teaching methodology.
“Students will learn to think clinically about how to combine these active ingredients for greater effectiveness. What really sets it apart is that other courses only teach ready-made blends, and for body harmonization and high performance, that doesn't work,” explains Dr. Barbosa.
Dr. Antony Barbosa holds a degree in pharmacy with qualifications in Industrial Pharmacy and Clinical Analysis from UFRJ, is a postgraduate in Aesthetic Pharmacy from Nepuga/FAPUGA, holds a Master's and a Doctorate from UFRJ, and recently completed his Postdoctoral fellowship at the UFMG School of Pharmacy.
All of this training and years invested in research in the field of Aesthetic Pharmacy have earned the specialist recognition. Today, Dr. Barbosa is the leading reference in the body aesthetics market, both in the care he provides at his clinic in Belo Horizonte – MG, and at the institutions where he teaches.
With his new Body Harmonization and High Performance course in the MasterClass at Nepuga/FAPUGA, the specialist promises to provide the qualification needed to raise the level of professionals who want to specialize in body aesthetics.
Despite its in-depth focus on pharmaceuticals, the course is designed to serve everyone, that is, pharmacists, nurses, biomedical professionals and other health fields: “The idea is to level the knowledge of all students so they can learn and put this theoretical foundation into practice in the course,” explains the Aesthetic Pharmacist.
What Is the Difference Between Body Harmonization and High Performance?
Dr. Antony explains how the Body Harmonization technique works: “The intention is to bring harmony to the body. So if I'm going to treat localized fat, I won't look only at the fat, but at the patient as a whole, meaning localized fat, sagging, cellulite, and whatever else is needed to reach the pronounced definition they want”.
On the body high performance technique, the specialist says it is indicated for athletes and people who already have muscle definition and want to boost their performance: “So we apply hypertrophic, lipolytic active ingredients so we can increase their performance, sculpt the muscle more and sculpt the body more, which is why it's used on people who already have prior definition”.
The main difference between the two procedures is the audience they are aimed at. Body harmonization can even be done on people with obesity, because when they start the weight-loss process with diet and exercise, it is possible to treat localized fat, sagging and the stretch marks caused during the process at the same time.
The Techniques Covered in the MasterClass
The syllabus already published on the MasterClass official website includes the principles of mesotherapy, advanced intradermotherapy, advanced application techniques, collagen biostimulators and their combination with home care, and the prescription of nutraceuticals and herbal medicines.
Speaking about the guidelines of the Harmonization and High Performance course, Dr. Barbosa comments: “This technique already existed, and I added all the experience I have from clinical immersion. So I kept discovering several new protocols, where I introduced modifications. Unlike other courses, I'm going to teach students to think and reason about each patient and decide which active ingredients to use for each blend in body harmonization”.
Beyond the academically in-depth technical content, the specialist lives up to a MasterClass experience when it comes to exclusivity: “I developed these techniques because I'm a pharmacist and a postdoctoral researcher in pharmacy and pharmacology, which gives me the technical ability to know drugs in great depth. That knowledge led me to put together my own blends, and I managed to create protocols that deliver fast results that show a difference within weeks. Those new protocols are what I'm going to teach, but I can't talk about them yet because they're exclusive to this course”.
In addition, the Aesthetic Pharmacist highlights the importance of assessing and taking the history of each patient to define the active ingredients and find the best way to enhance the treatment over time: “Students aren't locked into a rigid mold; they learn to think clinically to perform any procedure. Just as I'm independent in designing protocols, I want this course to make students independent too”, he adds.
