“I always liked the aesthetics field, I'm also very vain, so I decided to get into aesthetics, and it was love at first sight”.
Dr. Daiane Caro is an Aesthetic Biomedical Professional in the city of Toledo, Paraná. She says that after a few experiences working in biomedicine, she fell in love with aesthetic health, and she has never stopped studying the subject since.
A graduate of Universidade Paranaense (UNIPAR), Dr. Caro tells how her path went up to the professional moment she is at today, “Right after I graduated I started working at a pharmaceutical company here in Toledo, I had already done my internship there, and I started in quality control. Then I passed the public exam for the blood bank and stayed there for 4 years.”
In 2015, she began her specialization. She explains that even while working at the blood bank, she was able to complete the postgraduate program in Aesthetic Biomedicine and quickly entered the market, “So I finished the postgraduate program, waited for my license to come through and started looking for a position in aesthetics, and I spent a year working at a dental office until I decided to open my own clinic.”
The inspiration in Aesthetic Biomedicine
The drive to start her own business came when Dr. Daiane saw a video by Dr. Ana Carolina Puga and was enchanted: “I was inspired by the doctor, by being an empowered woman with her own business, and I was enchanted. I always liked the aesthetics field, I'm also very vain, so I decided to get into aesthetics, and it was love at first sight.”
Today, as the owner of Clínica Biomedicina Estética Daiane Caro for 3 years, the entrepreneur points to the benefits of having opened her own clinic: “It's financial independence. I say that in these years I've learned a lot. It's different from working for others: the more you work, the more you earn, it's more responsibility, but it's worth it.”
Despite the positives, Dr. Ana Carolina Puga (MSc) stresses the importance of being a professional who values excellence in her care, “People think aesthetics is simple and easygoing, but we have a lot of commitment to the patient and a responsibility to make it work. Because patients come to us to look and feel better, and we have to, at the very least, meet that expectation, so it's something that demands a great deal of seriousness,”she says.
Along these lines, Dr. Daiane says that even with patient care and managing her space, she keeps studying, “I come to the clinic and I keep studying, because I believe that even after the postgraduate program we need to take short courses to go deeper. “The postgraduate program shows you a range of options so you can choose what you like most,” the professional emphasizes.
The turning point for the Aesthetic Biomedical Professional
The transformation experienced over 12 months in the postgraduate program turned out to be something positive for the professional and personal growth of professionals like Dr. Daiane: “I didn't identify much with the devices, I liked the injectables more, but I think I made the most of all the modules. I'm the type who likes to do everything. The important thing is to dedicate yourself and study. I always say the postgraduate program is just the beginning.”
Already in the aesthetics market for 5 years, the specialist says there are areas where Aesthetic Biomedicine still needs to advance. She highlights that being able to request lab tests is something she misses in order to personalize her care.
“When I'm going to treat a patient for weight loss, I need to know how the thyroid is, the hormonal factor, we need to understand how the patient is doing, and as biomedical professionals and pharmacists we can't order these tests, so I think that makes treatment a bit harder,” the doctor points out as something still to be achieved in aesthetic biomedicine.
Even so, the professional, who considers aesthetics one of the loves of her life, notes that everything done with love tends to work out: “Regardless of the field, but especially in ours, you need to treat the patient as if they were part of your family, with a lot of love. Before being a professional you have to be a great human being, and if you do that, the chance of success is very high,” advises Dr. Daiane Caro.
