Aesthetic Nurse Dr. Angélica Juliana Favaro, from Uberaba – MG, left her comfort zone to invest in Aesthetic Nursing after 10 years in the hospital field.
She graduated from USP – University of São Paulo, in Ribeirão Preto, and decided it was time to pursue new professional dreams. This was especially so after her friends, who also became specialists in the aesthetics field, reached a new peak in their careers.
“When my friends ask and I explain about aesthetics, I get really excited,” she said. “Even more so because it is a market that keeps growing,” the nurse said.
Find out how Dr. Angélica became an Aesthetic Nurse in this success story, and discover her motivations for investing in one of the largest markets in the world.
Before Becoming an Aesthetic Nurse
Before becoming an Aesthetic Nurse, Dr. Angélica began her professional career in Ribeirão Preto – SP, the city where she studied at USP. She spent more than 10 years of her career managing hospitals in a few groups.
“From the reception schedule to inventory supplies and patient service spreadsheets. I managed the girls in billing audit, the nursing technicians, audited points, handled authorizations for guides, billing, and ties with health insurers,” she said.
When she got married, she moved to Uberaba, the city where she currently lives. She even worked in agribusiness with her husband, and also assisted at an ophthalmology clinic.
With the pandemic, the nurse ended up sidelined. The moment caused real panic among many professionals in the job market, who saw Covid-19 hurt many businesses.
Those Who Do It, Know It
Not knowing how she could boost her career, the Aesthetic Nurse's friends suggested specializing in aesthetics. The golden advice was a true gift to her, as it was her first contact with the field.
She saw that the aesthetics job market is more than a dream; it is a new reality that transforms lives. “Each of my friends specialized for a different reason,” she said. “I wanted to change my career,” she stated.
Like her, other nurses have also invested in the field in search of professional success.
Aesthetic Nursing: A Great Choice
There are many reasons that lead professionals to Aesthetic Nursing, such as financial return and relevance in a promising market. That caught Dr. Angélica's attention.
Moreover, the aesthetics field does not offer only advantages, since nursing itself also ends up being one of the reasons professionals enter the specialization.
Nursing is one of the fields with the greatest lack of professional recognition and with salaries that do not satisfy the profession. “First, it is giving an opportunity for a life change. People are afraid to take a risk in other fields,” she said. “I gave myself that opportunity and changed fields,” she stated.
27 Years Later
Twenty-seven years after her graduation and her time in hospital administration, having more contact with patients may have been a challenge for Dr. Angélica, one she overcame. That is how she joined the group of nurses in aesthetics.
“I had been away from the technical side,” she said. “I didn't lay a hand on anyone, only on papers and the computer,” she stated.
Immersion
The development of a professional's skills and competencies comes with the Aesthetic Nursing course, and must be refined with applied practice and excellent training.
It is through this immersion that Dr. Angélica has reached her goals. For her, the challenges of Aesthetic Nursing are worth it.
This is because the Aesthetic Nurse can provide quality of life, well-being, and self-esteem to her patients. “It is incredible when we can give the patient the feeling of seeing themselves as more beautiful,” she stated.
