Aesthetic nurse used the change forced by the pandemic to specialize

We all know the pandemic affected the lives of millions of people. But it is the way each person found to make changes in the face of the difficulties that arose, and that grew because of this period of new rules, that makes every story unique, and one of those stories is that of aesthetic nurse Gisele Gomes Giampietro.

A nurse for 17 years, Dr. Gisele worked in hospitals for a long time and was in primary care when the SARS-CoV-2 infection swept the world. “My start toward change really began when I arrived at the school to drop off my daughter and the teacher said they would not be open the next day, if I had no one to leave her with. My husband is also a nurse, and that was when we had to rethink our priorities,” Gisele explains.

And even during that long period of uncertainty that came with the advance of the pandemic, Dr. Gisele decided she would go back to studying and specialize in aesthetic nursing.

“I was thinking I would wait for the pandemic to end before starting the postgraduate program in aesthetics, but I decided I could not waste any more time. After all, the hybrid learning model worked very well for me. I took all the classes online, and when the situation got better I knew I would do the hands-on classes, which is what ended up happening,” Gisele explains.

The aesthetic nurse completes her long-awaited specialization in October and already devotes half of her day to seeing clients. She and her husband run the space Zhenqi Shiatsu Massagem e Estética, located in Guarulhos – SP.

“I still work as a public employee part-time, and in the afternoon I can go to the clinic to see clients, within what is already possible to do,” she explains.

The desire to become an aesthetic nurse and care for people in a different way

“There are many ways to promote health, and one of them is caring for people's well-being.”

For aesthetic nurse Gisele, this shift in mindset about the concept of health came when she started working in primary care.

“In hospital nursing you work a lot with illness, and when I moved to primary care I realized there are many ways to promote health besides medication. That was when I realized that working without being next to illness could be lighter,” she explains.

The period the world went through led Dr. Gisele to reflect on what she wanted to leave for her daughter

“This past year brought me a lot of reflection about who we are and what we want to leave behind. I have an 11-year-old daughter, I lived under stress at my job, and today it doesn't even compare with the care I provide to patients focused on aesthetics; the atmosphere is completely different, there is another energy circulating in the room,” she emphasizes.

For the future, she plans to invest even more in the clinic's appointments with her husband and to be able to devote herself exclusively to aesthetics soon. “Now I can organize my time better and dedicate myself to my daughter, my family, my home. I have fulfilled myself as a nurse, but now I also feel I have a purpose in aesthetic nursing,” she concludes.
