Aesthetic Nurse from Rio Grande do Sul Changes Fields After a Decade of Night Shifts

After more than 10 years as a nurse, Pâmela Pohlmam made a decision that changed her career. She set the hospital aside to work in Aesthetics, seeking the benefits this field offers. In the lines below, get to know the story of this aesthetic nurse.

“Flexibility at work is a very important point. Especially for me, since I work 150 kilometers from where I live and do night shifts. The daily routine is very tiring”, Pâmela said.

The Start of Her Nursing Career

She lives in Santa Cruz do Sul (RS) and currently works in Santa Maria (RS), a distance of more than 140 kilometers.

Before her undergraduate degree, which she earned in the city where she lives, she was exposed to the Health field because her mother is also a nurse and loved the work. “I believe that’s when this love for nursing and for the health field itself began to grow”.

Later, experienced in the hospital setting, she saw that her job market could take a different direction. A new direction: aesthetics!

“I discovered aesthetics while looking for something new to bring to my profession, so I could add it to my work and add value to it. Not at the institution where I work, but in a more independent way”.

Choosing the Aesthetics Field

Already hearing about the flexible hours and the chance to start her own business in the profession, she also began to notice other benefits of aesthetics.

“To seek a differentiator within nursing, working in my field but with aesthetics added to it, mainly in a therapeutic way”.

The idea of trading night shifts and the tiring routine for aesthetics makes sense because she can use the nursing profession as a foundation for her new studies and work.

“So, working within my field and adding aesthetics to my core profession, I can improve the quality of my professional and personal life”

Another detail she noticed is the chance to become a reference in the city and region where she works. “Mainly because it brings a differentiator in nursing”.

Ozone Therapy

The aesthetic nurse mentions ozone as an example. “I discovered ozone very recently, at the start of the Postgraduate Program. I found the theory we had very interesting, all the knowledge that was shared”.

The next step is practice, which takes place through the Clinical Immersion. “Practical grounding is important because it is a very broad subject”.

And she has been achieving good results from this available practice. “With each hands-on class and each piece of knowledge the professors share about ozone, I become more set on improving in this practice”.

The aesthetic nurse says her focus in ozone therapy will be on the therapeutic side. “But maybe, by having the equipment and improving my skills, I’ll come to want to work in and cover aesthetics as well”.

An ozone device can offer countless benefits in aesthetics, and that increases the added value of the services offered by health professionals.

The Ozone Therapy Course

Pâmela Pohlmam mentions that, regarding regulatory matters, to become an ozone therapist she needs a training course. “In principle, my Council (Brazilian professional council) requires it”.

So she plans to specialize and complete the Ozone Therapy Course soon. “That’s what I’m after. Not to be just one more, but to have a differentiator that really makes a difference in people’s lives”.

The Future of the Aesthetic Nurse’s Career

The nurse says she has great plans for the future.

“I have very positive expectations about the training the course will give me. I see only positives so far. Which are important for my personal side and, above all, my professional side”.
