Aesthetic Pharmacist Dr. Ezequiel Rodrigues Lima, from Rio de Janeiro, set retirement aside to invest in the aesthetics market.
After 35 years working at an oncology hospital, he decided to invest in Aesthetic Pharmacy for more meaningful opportunities in his career. “We don’t retire because we keep on living,” he said. “I’ll keep producing for as long as I have the skill, strength and intelligence,” Dr. Ezequiel stated.
Find out how he became an Aesthetic Pharmacist in this success story.
The Aesthetic Pharmacist and the Start of His Career
Before his degree and his specialization as an Aesthetic Pharmacist, Dr. Ezequiel was a firefighter. He rappelled and did aerial rescues, but he traded the hero’s uniform to care for people in a different way, in hospitals.
The pharmacist began his career as a nursing technician and even worked in pediatrics. It was at an oncology hospital that he spent most of his professional life. “I always dealt with human suffering and pain,” he said.
He is certain that Aesthetic Pharmacy is his new professional peak. “I’m on the right path, the path of healing,” he said.
Different Routines
Over those years, Dr. Ezequiel lived through a complex routine with oncology patients. Now the pharmacist wants to promote health through Aesthetic Pharmacy.
“I’ve already given so much to illness,” he said. “It’s not that I can’t still be moved by those who need it,” he stated.
The Aesthetic Pharmacist sees aesthetics as a great reward. “I want to work with something that deals with health,” he said. “I studied philosophy for a while,” he said. “I saw that aesthetics is balance and functionality, not just beauty,” he stated.
Aesthetic Pharmacist or Retiree?
Retiring may be the dream of many professionals who want to take time to enjoy life, travel and rest. To give an idea, according to the website of Brazil’s Social Security (Previdência Social), more than 36.4 million benefits are paid every month.
For Dr. Ezequiel, however, living on retirement is not an option, even though he contributed for 35 years. He celebrates a stable past in his field of training, but wants to invest more and more in his career as an Aesthetic Pharmacist.
“I see many people, including my colleagues, who retire and even develop depression. They go through moments of anguish,” Dr. Ezequiel stated.
The Aesthetic Pharmacist and Financial Return
For Dr. Ezequiel, retiring in Brazil may not be enough. One of his concerns is precisely the financial side.
That’s because, according to the pharmacist, those who retire may face not only emotional instability but also trouble living comfortably.
“People who retire can even end up in difficult economic situations,” he said. “In Brazil, you retire in order to work, unlike the romantic idea of retiring and enjoying life,” Dr. Ezequiel stated.
With the dream of staying in the job market as an Aesthetic Pharmacist, he is driven by the desire to keep growing. “Now that I’m retiring, am I going to travel?” he said. “I took a different path,” he stated.
Like him, other professionals have also set retirement aside to prove that the aesthetics job market is promising, even for those with an established career.
Plans as an Aesthetic Pharmacist
His plans in Aesthetic Pharmacy are grand. He intends to keep improving his knowledge and skills with a special purpose. “I want to dedicate myself to teaching,” he said.
And his expectations as an Aesthetic Pharmacist are high. “I have a calling for this field and I’ve always really liked the classroom,” Dr. Ezequiel stated.
