Overcoming Distance, Biomedical Professional Specializes in Aesthetics and His Dedication Earns Him the 2022 Academic Excellence Award

How far would you go to achieve a dream? Facing a distance of 400 km, this Biomedical Professional specializes in aesthetics and receives the 2022 Academic Excellence Award as a standout of his program.

This journey we are about to tell will surely motivate other professionals to pursue their dreams. Our special edition of Success Stories, which tells the stories of the 2022 Academic Excellence Award winners, will present the specialization journey of Aesthetic Biomedical Professional Andrei Marlon.

Andrei's path is similar to that of millions of Brazilians who dream of achieving goals that can transform their lives. It is common knowledge that when we dream of a promising future, a lot of dedication and determination is needed. The obstacles are countless and life often tries to bring us down.

But life could not make Andrei stop dreaming. The young Biomedical Professional overcame the distance between his city, Torres, on the Gaúcho coast, and the site of the clinical immersions, Porto Alegre, to finish his postgraduate program and become a reference in the specialization.

Below you can see how Andrei Marlon won the Academic Excellence Award and became a competent and successful professional.

The experience gained during the specialization

Andrei decided to specialize to gain more confidence in treating his patients. His main need was to acquire the skills to perform procedures that would satisfy patients safely and effectively. And he chose Nepuga precisely because the postgraduate program offers students Clinical Immersions that provide better learning.

“From the moment I chose the postgraduate program, I wanted to leave with the confidence to treat patients, bringing great results to my patients effectively, but without giving up safety. This point was crucial in choosing Nepuga because it has hands-on practice, which is indispensable for excellent training.”

Andrei's study process was very focused on absorbing the content. Andrei recognizes that to be a professional with a broad repertoire in patient care, you need a vast field of knowledge and must offer different ways to ensure patient satisfaction.

“I always made the most of the information we were given. During classes I tried to absorb as much content as possible, always watching the live broadcasts, taking important notes in my “scratch” notebooks without worrying about handwriting or colors, I simply wrote it down, then I rewrote all the content neatly, and I always looked for additional information so as not to let any question slip by, because I always thought that if I didn't clear up that question right then, it could come up when I was face to face with the patient during an evaluation, or worse, during the procedure.”

Satisfaction with the postgraduate program and affinity with procedures

Nepuga has made large investments in its content and in making the student's academic life a much more interactive experience, where they can immerse themselves in an environment of broad technical knowledge and finish the specialization with a high level of satisfaction.

From the experience of Aesthetic Biomedical Professional Andrei, the program offered everything he needed and gave him activities that provided mastery and confidence when performing procedures.

It was during the specialization that Andrei was able to identify which area of the body to work on. That was when he developed an interest in certain body regions in which he would like to specialize.

“I really liked the postgraduate program, because it gave me a broad view of various procedures. That helped me identify my niche of interest, what really attracts me in this field.”

Andrei would not have stood out in his class if he had not been committed and willing to give himself fully and get the most out of the content. He says he had contact with so many procedures that he ended up developing a certain fondness for all of those he was exposed to. For him, it is essential that a good professional have knowledge and be able to offer every kind of service to the patient.

“During this process, I discovered that I have an affinity for both facial and body procedures; however, I prefer to perform specific procedures in each region (also because it would be humanly impossible for us to perform all the facial and/or all the body procedures that exist), but I find it very interesting that we can offer both types of treatment to our patients, all in the same place.”

Overcoming obstacles and transforming his life

As we mentioned, Andrei had to face the distance to reach the long-awaited Aesthetic Biomedical Professional certificate. He traveled almost 400 km when attending the Clinical Immersions, from his city, Torres, RS, to the Gaúcho capital, Porto Alegre, where the Nepuga unit is located. A distance that was not enough to stop the Biomedical Professional from becoming a qualified Aesthetician.

Our success stories include many stories of overcoming obstacles that captivate and encourage other professionals. Andrei was flattered that his journey would be available to motivate other colleagues.

“The biggest challenge for me was the distance. I lived in a city relatively far away, so the trips to the program had to be very carefully planned to fit with my previous job, but fortunately everything worked out and today I'm working in aesthetics, which for me is an unmatched fulfillment. I know I work in the right field because, although there are physically tiring days, aesthetics doesn't drain me emotionally, quite the opposite, working in aesthetics energizes and excites me.”

To make it to the end, Andrei thought about the possibility of becoming an independent professional, with more flexible hours and being able to depend on his own effort to develop professionally.

“Certainly one point that motivated me a lot was the possibility of greater flexibility in my routine, working independently, since the effort I would put into my work would be for my own growth and development.”

Committed to his future, Andrei had the perseverance and intelligence to get the best out of this experience. Today he says that the person he was before the program and the one he became are different personalities, and that the specialization was fundamental for his growth.

“Certainly they are two people with completely different mindsets, first because of the wealth of content: it's class after class with nonstop content, meaning we have the chance to leave with a lot of knowledge. I can't say this process isn't tiring, but I always tried to take it seriously, stop and watch the entire class. I have no doubt this process changed the way I see aesthetics and its possibilities, avoiding rigid and standardized methodologies. Today I consider myself a person who has the confidence to recommend the right procedure and also perform it properly, knowing that each case is different and there will be situations where what works for one patient will not work for another.”

Now Aesthetic Biomedical Professional Andrei Marlon receives the Academic Excellence Award for Specialization for his dedication throughout all the months of the postgraduate program, but his name and his career will go a long way, full of awards and success.
