In this article, you will meet an aesthetic biomedical professional and Ozone Therapy specialist who has been finding her edge amid the competition in aesthetics through a great deal of study and self-improvement.
She shows the results of all her work and dedication on her Instagram profile, where she has already gained more than 28 thousand followers. And in recognition of the value of her achievements, Dr. Natasha was chosen among the winners of the Academic Excellence Award 2022.
Currently, Dr. Natasha Sperduto holds postgraduate degrees in aesthetic biomedicine and ozone therapy, and her experience working in aesthetic health already adds up to 10 years of dedicated work bringing well-being through aesthetic care.
The search to stand out from the competition in aesthetics
Her first training in the field was a technical course in aesthetics back in 2013. But even though aesthetics has a rising and highly valued market, there is also a lot of competition. Dr. Natasha says that competition in aesthetics in Rio de Janeiro is especially fierce:
“The market here in Rio de Janeiro is growing a lot, there are many qualified professionals, but you have to show your edge, your knowledge.”
With the technical course in aesthetics, she could only perform less invasive procedures, such as low-concentration peels and Electrotherapy. The technical course already gave her the competence to work in the field that Natasha loves, but her training at the time was limiting.
In a competitive scenario like Rio de Janeiro's, a technical course was not enough for Natasha's professional ambitions.
Insecurity among estheticians and cosmetologists
Beyond this technical limitation based on her knowledge, there was also a lack of backing, due to the absence of a structured council to regulate, oversee, and support the practice of estheticians.
And, despite the Esthetician Law, this lack of more specific support is still a concern today among professionals trained in Esthetics and Cosmetology, unlike training in the health field with regulation for the aesthetics specialty.
Knowing this, Natasha chose to pursue a degree in Biomedicine, already with the goal of becoming a specialist in Aesthetic Biomedicine and finally being able to work with injectables and more complex procedures.
The title is important, but it's not enough
She thus finished her degree already qualified in aesthetics within biomedicine, as is currently possible through internships in the field. But the knowledge she gained was not enough for this aesthetic biomedical professional who truly wanted to stand out.
For those who want to stand out from the competition in aesthetics, a credential like this can be a good starting point, but it is not enough, which is why Natasha finished her degree already intending to pursue a postgraduate program in aesthetics.
And what she found in the postgraduate program was a much more complete line of training, from the basics of what can be done in Aesthetic Biomedicine to more complex techniques and procedures.
When we spoke with Dr. Natasha about her journey, she even commented:
“I came out of my degree qualified, I already came out as an aesthetic biomedical professional, but I went straight into the specialization, because in the degree we do internships, but I wanted a specialization, I wanted to find out what aesthetic biomedicine was, because in the degree we don't have a foundation, and here we do, here we see it from the start, from the “first step” to the end, we really understand what aesthetic biomedicine is.”
The postgraduate program in Aesthetic Biomedicine was thus a fundamental foundation in shaping the professional she is today, owner of her own clinic located in the Vila Valqueire neighborhood, which is currently more focused on facial harmonization.
Awarded in the #SuccessLeaders Category
Her view on the need to face competition in aesthetics by seeking an edge in her own work has been reflected in the success of her business. So much so that she is being awarded in the “#SuccessLeaders” category of the “Influencer's Choice” section.
