When we are young, we have to make choices that will shape our future. Marianna Cosmo was very sure when she chose the world of aesthetics, and now, as an Aesthetic Pharmacist, she shone in her postgraduate program and won the 2022 Academic Excellence award.
Among the winners of the 2022 Academic Excellence award is our Aesthetic Pharmacist Marianna Cosmo. In this article, you will understand the reasons that led her to be chosen as one of Nepuga's best postgraduate students.
Marianna has a lot of experience in her life. She has lived abroad, took part in scientific research, had contact with the cosmetics and aesthetics industry at a very young age, and was certain her path would be in aesthetic health.
When she returned to Brazil, she was determined to study Pharmacy, already knowing she would go into aesthetics and cosmetology, and she entered the specialization right after finishing her degree.
We tell you about Mari's academic success story and her career after the specialization below.
A determined and resolute woman
Marianna's desire for aesthetics began when she was living outside Brazil. Living in Germany, right after finishing high school, was where she had her first contact with the cosmetics and aesthetics industry. Enchanted by the world of aesthetics, she returned to Brazil sure of her degree: Pharmacy.
“When I returned to Brazil I already knew I would study pharmacy, and I also already knew I would go into aesthetics and cosmetology. That was very certain for me.”
Mari has always been very dedicated to her studies. In her Pharmacy degree, she took part in several academic initiatives and projects and was aware that a specialization would be fundamental for her career, especially if it were done at a quality institution.
“During college I got involved in scientific research, I was class representative, a speaker. There were many fronts. During that process I already knew a postgraduate program would be very important in my training, mainly because it gives us (pharmacists) the qualification, without forgetting the weight of the institution. I believe you know that when we research the best place for a specialization, the name Nepuga is the first one that comes up.”
As a standout in her class, Mari gave herself body and soul to the specialization. She says that in every aspect of her life she does her utmost to get the most out of each experience, and the postgraduate program was no different. “I have always been very dedicated, you know, everything I set out to do, I try to give my best, and I believe it was no different with the postgraduate program, so I leave very sure that I made the most of everything you had to give me, including the hands-on practice, which was essential for me to overcome some insecurities.”
Mari also highlights the importance of the faculty and everyone's influence on her professional life. “It was also incredible to have the professors as colleagues today, including Dr. Ana, whom I end up following on Instagram, and to know that they were and still are inspirations for us, from when we started back then until today.”
“My dreams in aesthetics have come true”
Imagine the joy of finishing a specialization and already having the chance to work in the job market. A dream, isn't it? Well, for Mari, this dream came true.
Mari says that when she finished the postgraduate program, she received an invitation to work with a renowned aesthetics company in her city and that the weight of the Nepuga name and her specialization were crucial for that opportunity.
“As soon as I finished the program, I was invited to join a team at a renowned aesthetics clinic here in my city, and I am sure that the weight, the name of the program, the influence, had everything to do with that invitation.”
Mari is also grateful for what Nepuga has done for her and her career. She recognizes the importance of having completed her specialization at a renowned institution with a high success rate. It was with what she learned during the program that she became qualified, and today she provides care that captivates patients and builds their loyalty with innovative, up-to-date procedures. Now, Marianna is already planning to open her own clinic.
“Now I am in the transition to opening my own clinic, I have my loyal clients, and I can only thank the institution for having been a student and now for being honored. I thank Dr. Ana, the Nepuga team, and the professors who shared their knowledge along the journey. I am very happy and very grateful. My dreams in aesthetics have come true and are a reality for me.”
High demand and career projections
Marianna had the chance to keep studying and completed another postgraduate program, in Trichology, the branch of science that deals with hair. The need to continue her growth came after an invitation to work at a clinic where her mother had been receiving treatment for five years. Marianna says that when she finished her training, she was not in a position to open her own place, and this invitation was important for her start working in aesthetic health.
“When I graduated, I did not have the financial means to look for a space of my own, to take on rent, building fees, the chair – which is the dream of everyone who works in aesthetics – and so on. And those things are very expensive, so at that time I had a sense that I would not be able to take on those monthly debts without knowing how patient acquisition would work. Besides, I am an extremely private person, I am learning to use Instagram, so marketing is something I find very difficult, so I had those insecurities.”
With the job opportunity and the specializations, her demand grew and the desire came to open a space completely her own.
Mari confesses she is grateful for the opportunity, but with her income stabilizing and her clients' loyalty growing, she realized it was time to continue her career independently.
At this point we think: with her own clinic and many clients, she must have no time for other activities, right? Quite the opposite.
It was no accident that Marianna stood out during the postgraduate program, which led her to win the 2022 Academic Excellence Award. She is currently a professor at a university, teaching some courses for the Pharmacy and Biomedicine programs, one of them cosmetic technology.
Mari also had the chance to pursue a master's degree right after finishing college, but, according to her, because it was not the field she wanted (aesthetics and cosmetics), she decided to turn down the opportunity, also because she was not yet a specialist in the field, a title she earned shortly afterward with Nepuga.
“Today I am a specialist in this field through Nepuga, and I was given the opportunity to write a thesis that blends aesthetics and psychosomatics, a field I absolutely love. So, although I know it will be super hard and costly, it is something I like, you know? And I would not have had this opportunity back then if I had done (virology). So I am very grateful to Nepuga, which ended up qualifying me and opening this opportunity for me too.”
Marianna is another example of dedication when we think about our professional lives. Her story motivates and encourages those who believe they can soar even higher.
