This aesthetic pharmacist from SC (Santa Catarina) has an incredible career. She owns a health clinic and is hiring people to grow her team. But to realize her dream, she had to set aside a supervisory position at a multinational, and that turned out to be the right choice.

Seven years ago, making that decision wasn't easy and took a lot of courage. But today, with impressive results that represent a tenfold increase in revenue, she says she has no regrets about the decision. “I was the first pharmaceutical aesthetics clinic in Santa Catarina”.

With this introduction, we invite you to learn some details about the life of this entrepreneur, who feels fulfilled in her profession as a pharmacist and works in one of the fastest-growing markets in the world. Read and be inspired!

The Start of the Aesthetic Pharmacist from SC

Cristiane de Oliveira lived in Curitiba, Paraná, for 18 years. Today she is in the interior of Santa Catarina, in Major Vieira. Her career in pharmacy began with her degree, and right after her studies came work in the hospital setting. Then in a laboratory and, lastly, in industry.

After that experience in the job market, she saw the chance to start a business and change her life. “My last job was in industry, in the quality department. As soon as pharmacists gained the right to practice aesthetics, I started a specialization in that field”.

In other words, after finishing her degree, Cristiane and her classmates still could not work in that field. Later, when she was already in the job market, that changed, opening new doors for health professionals. All thanks to the postgraduate program in aesthetics.

When she left her job as a pharmacist in industry, where she held a supervisory position, she was in a good financial situation, she recalls. And that caused a bit of fear when facing the new challenge. “Today I have no regrets: revenue is 10 times higher”.

The Aesthetic Pharmacist's Clinic in SC

Major Vieira is a very small city in Santa Catarina, a little under 6 hours from the capital, Florianópolis. That is where Cristiane de Oliveira set up her health and beauty clinic, Corpele. “I want to be there and keep serving my clients well”.

Here comes a question: how did the sudden change in Cristiane's life happen? In fact, it's a curious story, because she had already had contact with this field before. See how she explains it:

“I first came into contact with aesthetics when I was 18. I worked with an aesthetic physician who at the time did harmonization, endermology, and other body procedures. That's when I got to know body aesthetics”.

Then came the opportunity to specialize and work in aesthetics. “I had just separated and was moving back to my hometown. That's when pharmacists gained the right to practice aesthetics and I saw a chance to start a business”. She didn't think twice and took the risk!

The First Pharmaceutical Aesthetics Clinic in SC

Cristiane says that this was the moment she had the lightbulb moment that would be fundamental to changing her life. “I returned to aesthetics because I could serve as the Technical Manager (RT). For that, I took Nepuga's first Postgraduate Program in Aesthetic Pharmacy in Curitiba (PR)”.

The result was extraordinary. “I was the first pharmaceutical aesthetics clinic in Santa Catarina. I've had it for 7 years. Today I work with my patients doing facial and body procedures”.

Now, the aesthetic pharmacist from SC says she is at a different stage. “I'm at a stage where I can't do everything with my own two hands. So I have to train people to be as good as me or even better. That's so we can take good care of our patients, because we work on client loyalty”.

And stopping her studies was never an option. After the specialization in Aesthetic Pharmacy, she started a new course, in Ozone Therapy. “Because it adds to a lot of other treatments and completes protocols”, she says.

The Pharmacist's Specialization in Ozone Therapy

Cristiane de Oliveira says that as a pharmacist she knows the requirement to work with ozone is 200 hours, according to the Pharmacy Council (Brazilian professional council). “And I want to have this specialization in my portfolio too. And also add that value to my clinic”.

The reason she sought out this new field has to do with the market as well. “I've already had patients asking. People are already coming in asking for ozone procedures”.

That's why expectations are the best, based on their reality and experiences. “Usually, people come because they already know someone who has had it done, like a father or mother. I want to have that expertise to be able to work in both the clinical and the aesthetic side”.

For those unfamiliar with the use of ozone in health care, consider that it allows delivering results that add value to many treatments. “For example, sagging can be treated with radiofrequency plus ozone”.

Aesthetics for Pharmacists

Cristiane says that when she left her job as an industry pharmacist, she was in a supervisory position with a comfortable financial situation, and that was what caused the most fear. “But today I have no regrets because I'm able to earn 10 times more”.

Besides the improvement in finances, she says this field has other benefits. “One of the best things is helping patients. When you treat a patient, you bring her self-esteem. You don't just care for the physical; you end up treating the psychological side of that person too”.

Another story worth knowing is that of a professional who took aesthetic biomedicine to Europe, becoming a reference in Dublin check it out!

In the case of using ozone, she says it creates a certain preference among clients. “You can ease a person's pain without her having to take more medication and without being poisoned by it. It's very rewarding and does a lot of good for you and for the patient“.

For anyone with doubts about starting a business in aesthetic health, here is one more piece of advice from a pharmacist who succeeded: “the possibility of having your own business and working with it is the big draw. The financial return is only a consequence”.

One step at a time, says the aesthetic pharmacist from SC!

In short, above we have the story of an aesthetic pharmacist who lived in Curitiba for 18 years and opened her own aesthetics clinic in the interior of Santa Catarina after specializing in Aesthetic Pharmacy. Now she is studying ozone therapy.

The reasons that led this health professional down the new path vary: marital separation and moving to a new city. But she doesn't regret starting her business because she has seen several benefits, such as flexibility, autonomy, and profit.

Her final tip is: one step at a time. “To those just starting out, I say: ‘start.’ First, you have to be good at one thing. Then you expand your know-how. Always study and never stop”.
