Aesthetic Pharmacist Finds Success Through Specialization

Isabela Vieira, now an aesthetic pharmacist, began her career in chemistry, working under a formal employment contract (CLT) in quality control at a perfumery, but she realized she would not have the professional growth opportunities she wanted, since she was working with what her qualifications at the time allowed, as back then she only had a technical course in Chemistry on her résumé.

While working at the perfumery, Isabela had a more focused interest in Cosmetology, so she began researching the Pharmacy degree, identified it as a good opportunity to reach what she wanted, and enrolled in the program.

Aesthetics as a way to start a business

“I saw that a formal job wasn't all that good… it's comfortable, but running your own business is better”

After 5 years working in product quality control, and already studying Pharmacy, Isabela was laid off, and even looked for other opportunities in the chemistry field; however, frustrated with that field, she thought of something she had always enjoyed taking care of in herself: aesthetics.

So, thinking about how she had always sought out beauty procedures and products, Isabela began performing simpler aesthetic procedures that do not require specialized training. It was in the backyard of an aunt's house that the now aesthetic pharmacist started her work in services such as facial cleansing.

She not only saw that she had a knack for providing aesthetic services, but also realized she was already earning a significant financial return, similar to what she received for a whole month of work in her last job, while working much less.

Today, the aesthetic pharmacist performs facial cleansing, microneedling, drainage, and other services. And, besides the financial return, she already sees how rewarding it is to impact people's lives with beauty solutions.

On this, Isabela says that “you get quality of life, quality of time, you get this flexibility because you're an entrepreneur, and you also deliver a result and people leave there saying how happy they are.”

Aesthetic Pharmacist Finds a Path to Success Through Specialization

Thinking about how she could expand her practice, Isabela envisioned the future possibility of working with injectables, fillers, and botulinum toxin, but she knew she would need specialization, and it is through it that she is finding, besides a specialist title, a path for her professional development.

Isabela considers it extremely important to be able to take the postgraduate program in the hybrid model of teaching, because that way she can put into practice what she learns in theory and better understand which practices she identifies with.

Personal marketing in aesthetic pharmacy

Starting her own business in aesthetics, Isabela found a more flexible career possibility and, for that, she notes the importance of investing in her personal marketing by constantly updating her social media, which she sees as her own professional catalog.

Isabela even states: “I speak for myself: when I want to buy something or hire a service, I go to the person's Instagram, and if it isn't kept up to date, I don't buy,” and adds “that's why I always put a lot of effort into Instagram, I always show up, I always try to give it more emphasis. It's through Instagram that I'm going to get some clients.”

It was through social media that she began to stand out and receive requests for appointments, and it is through it, and through her own communication style, that she finds a way to position herself in the market and polish her image in order to attract the clients she seeks and continue on a path of relevance in her work.
