Aesthetic Pharmacist quits on-call shifts to work Monday through Thursday

Camila Sampaio da Silva is an Aesthetic Pharmacist who recently completed the Ozone Therapy Course. She began her career working in pharmacies, but did not adapt to the intense routine. Now, specialized in Aesthetics, she is beginning to reap the benefits of more flexible work.

Camila is from Palmas (PR) and chose to travel to Curitiba (PR) to take the Specialization in Aesthetics and, more recently, the Ozone Therapy Course. “In the region where I live, there are not many options for specializations and courses. “When there are, they are quite poor options.”

This demanded a lot of dedication from the aesthetic pharmacist. “Sometimes I hit traffic and get stuck, taking a little longer to arrive. I still have to eat, shower and sleep. Then I wake up early and study. Afterward, I leave.”

The effort was even greater during the Postgraduate Program, where she attended in person on two days of the weekend. “I had classes on Saturday and Sunday. And at the end of the afternoon I would run out to leave, because on Monday morning I had to be at work.”

Despite the hardships, today she says all the effort was worth it. In some weeks of work, setting her own hours, she was able to earn the same salary as when she worked the whole month at the Pharmacy.

At the Compounding and Retail Pharmacy, she even worked overnight shifts. Now, she feels fulfilled being the owner of her own work and managing it the way she finds most convenient. “I no longer need to work on Saturdays and Sundays or on Fridays.”

Learn a bit more about the story of Camila Sampaio da Silva, an Aesthetic Pharmacist who is currently studying Ozone Therapy. You will see how her life began, from her degree to reaching professional success, which is working her own hours.

The Pharmacist

Camila Sampaio says she chose the Pharmacy degree because of her interest in Compounding Pharmacy. “I even visited those places to see what the day-to-day work is like and ended up liking it even more.”

So, she decided to start the program and everything went well during the years of learning. Right after, she started working in the Pharmacy field, but not in Compounding. The job market result was not what she expected at the beginning of the program.

“I saw that it was nothing like what I wanted. In fact, at the time I could not even get a job in the Compounding area. So I went to a Retail Pharmacy.” From there, a new problem arose: there was an on-call shift every weekend. “Even overnight.”

The Routine

The biggest obstacle for this aesthetic pharmacist was the work routine: heavy, with little flexible hours, overnight shifts, etc. She tells us a bit about it.

“It was an intense routine. Sometimes I would arrive at 8 in the morning, having just come off a shift, and at noon I had to be working again. It was really hard.” The result could not be different: she left the Pharmacy field.

Next, she started working at a distributor of dental products. “That I liked. I stayed for a while. It was business hours, which was very good.” But life gave Camila another opportunity: Aesthetics!

Aesthetics

The aesthetic pharmacist says that when she started studying Aesthetic Pharmacy was when she most found herself in her professional life. “Because I always liked the idea of well-harmonized bodies, but I could not apply that to myself.”

So, during the Specialization in Aesthetics, she began to learn about it. “I saw what needed to be done to generate results. Today, I like working in the field.” And to stop studying was never an idea for Camila, who is now also an ozone specialist.

Ozone Therapy

The choice made a lot of sense for her career, as she explains: “I chose the Ozone Therapy Course because it integrates health and aesthetics, where we can combine the two and generate the best results.”

The integration of the fields allowed the aesthetic pharmacist to unite her personal taste with her profession. “I really like the beauty side. So I started researching what I wanted to do. And when I saw what we learned in this course, I liked it.”

Today, happy with the possibilities of her professional life and the new learning, Camila sees the potential she has to work in the market. “Our health has a lot to do with aesthetics. So the idea is to combine the two.”

In fact, ozone enhances the effects of aesthetics. With it, it is possible to combine therapeutic treatments with aesthetics. “And there are some routes of application through which we can reach the greatest goal in aesthetics: contributing to the patient's health.”

The Market

More experienced in the market, after having gone through Retail Pharmacy, she says she found in Aesthetics a way to keep growing constantly. Not to mention that people are looking for it more and more, she comments.

“The Councils themselves strongly encourage professionals to specialize in order to work in the Aesthetic Market more safely and profitably. You have to know very well what you are doing. Aesthetics is worth it.”

This is also the opinion of another professional, aesthetic biomedical professional Juliana Tironi. She comments that “For those who like it and want to enter the field, this is an option because aesthetics only grows. There is an audience for everyone. You just need to know how to stand out in the market.” Read that story.

The Future

For those curious about the aesthetic pharmacist's future, she is currently building her own space. “Before, I worked in rented rooms and now I am building my own space, and with that I can set my own hours.”

In addition, she can already see the Benefits of Aesthetics: “And I no longer need to work on Saturdays and Sundays or on Fridays. It is a day I can take off to do my own things, like studying. I manage to organize myself very well.”

As an aesthetic practitioner, she is already reaping the fruits of a more flexible job market. “My routine is very flexible, since I see patients Monday through Thursday. And when I am feeling less up to it, I can start seeing patients only on Monday afternoon.”

The Entrepreneur

Without mincing words, Camila Sampaio issues a warning to everyone who specializes in aesthetics and aims at entrepreneurship: it takes effort, but it is well worth it.

“At the beginning it is hard to start a business. But from the first months I was already able to take home the same amount I earned working at the Retail Pharmacy. Except I could set my own hours.”

And she continues: “Later, you manage to add more value. And you get more clients. Then comes the competition for time slots. So, sometimes I work later, but doing it my way and earning my own money.”
