Lately, what you hear most from nurses, especially those who work shifts, are complaints about tiring days of work in hospitals. It is a fact that the hospital environment can be tense and draining, and so many of these professionals want a new story in the health field. Nurse Andressa Soares wants to bring to aesthetics the humanized approach she has in nursing, and thus provide exclusive, individual care, giving patients the value they deserve.
Andressa is on the list of professionals who are dissatisfied with their work routine. A nurse who works in neonatology, where she did her residency, she says aesthetics has always caught her attention and was a field she was interested in getting to know.
At this point in her life she is heading toward a transition from hospitals to start her path in aesthetics. Intending to open her own clinic and gain quality of life, she seeks autonomy at work and more time with her family. You can find the details of this life change and the dreams of this aesthetic nurse throughout this article.
Transitioning from Nursing to Aesthetics in Search of Autonomy
It is understandable that so many nursing professionals are dissatisfied with working in hospitals, health clinics, and other facilities. Many report that the exhausting routine with long working hours has been harming both their physical and psychological health.
Of course, with so many complaints, the search for new horizons also happens, and as a result these nursing professionals are finding themselves in aesthetics. That is the case of our nurse interviewed today, Andressa Soares, who lives in Rio de Janeiro and wants to trade the tiring routine of long shifts for the autonomy of her own aesthetic clinic.
From an early age, her vocation led her to nursing, a choice that reflected her desire to help and comfort. She started in neonatology, where she dedicated herself and completed her residency. However, her interest in aesthetics began to blossom during a period of transition in her career. With five years of experience in clinical nursing, she found great satisfaction in exchanging experiences with people and in direct care. That same care and attention is what she now wants to apply in aesthetics, where she sees the opportunity to raise her future patients' self-esteem.
“I worked five years in patient care, I really like the exchange with people, taking care of them, which brings me closer to aesthetics, since I will be taking care of people's self-esteem, and the people who walk into my office, I hope they leave happier than they came in”.
The motivation for making the transition to aesthetic nursing is the need to spend more time with her family. Andressa says that with shift work, there are few moments when she can enjoy being with her children and she dreams of the possibility of gaining the quality time she so longs for in aesthetics.

“I really made the transition, I'm going into aesthetics, with no balancing act. I want to have my autonomy, my space, my own hours, direct exchange with the patient. I want that”.
“I have two children, so one of the reasons is being able to balance these schedules to be with my family more, something you can't do with shift work”.
"Every field is competitive, focus on yourself. Have differentiators"
Currently, Andressa already plans to work at other clinics, since she understands the importance of staying close to other professionals to gain experience. She values this contact and the work environment and is committed to continuing to learn and keep up to date.
Looking to the future, Andressa envisions having her own space and control over her hours. She projects that, with her own clinic, she can achieve not only professional success but also positively impact the lives of other people and other professionals as a mentor.
“I plan to start with clinics, because I think it's essential to gain that experience, but my intention is to have my own space. I'm gaining confidence, because clinical immersions prepare us for the job market. The classes are dynamic and that is working out much better for me, because we only feel confident by practicing”.
Speaking about the job market in Rio de Janeiro, Andressa stresses the importance of focusing on her own growth and offers a tip to other professionals: focus more on your development instead of worrying about the competition.
“Every field is competitive. You have to focus on yourself. You have to keep up to date, specialize. Aesthetics renews itself every year and you can't stand still in time, we have to have our differentiator”.
She sees in aesthetics an opportunity for more solid financial returns, as well as the freedom to manage her schedule and offer more personalized care to her patients.

Bringing a Humanized Approach to Aesthetics
For Andressa, the essence of nursing, humanized care and empathy, are fundamental values she seeks to bring to aesthetics. She believes each person should be treated with personalized care. Her background in clinical nursing gave her essential skills, such as the ability to listen to and understand her patients' needs, skills she considers crucial for promoting an approach to aesthetics that not only improves appearance but also promotes mental and emotional well-being.
“Every health professional has to have humanization, and I'm going to bring that to aesthetics. My patient, I need her to feel welcomed, I want to see her complaint, listen to her so I can guide her to the best treatment. I say aesthetics even touches the patient's mental health. It's important to be prepared to meet all those expectations”.
