Dr. Patricia Bernardes Rodrigues, though successful in her field, felt she needed to go looking for something more. And her passion for aesthetics was decisive in that choice. With a degree in Biomedicine from ULBRA and a Postgraduate degree in Aesthetic Biomedicine, she went even further!
The Beginning
“Nine years ago I decided to start my own business, a clinical analysis laboratory in a small town where I didn't know anyone! Only I know how hard it was: a woman, a stranger, having to handle everything on my own with doctors, patients, the mayor, department heads, and so on. But with seriousness and professionalism, I managed to do wonderful work and earned everyone's respect.”
Dr. Patricia, who has always lived in Cachoeira do Sul/RS, talks about the difficulties she faced in having her own business. And she opens up about the challenges of pursuing her passion for aesthetics as a woman:
“Only we women know the prejudice: you're a businesswoman, independent, you decided everything on your own, but we can't forget that we're sensitive women, fragile at times. And that's okay, it happens and it's normal, we don't have to be 100% strong all the time!”
Dr. Patrícia, who is a Professor of Advanced Aesthetics and a Specialist in Facial and Body Harmonization, tells how she became an aesthetics professional.
“When everything was fine, I felt something was missing, a spark in my professional life, and that's when aesthetics came along and I found my purpose in life! But on my own, I asked myself these questions: Now what? Start all over again? Give up my 8-year business? I fell in love with aesthetics, and deep down something told me I should start all over again!”
The Passion for Aesthetics
The alumna began her postgraduate program at Nepuga, and from there her passion for aesthetics took off. Her life changed completely, and as she followed a beautiful path in the aesthetics field, she says she had special support along the way.
Challenges
“Since I like challenges, I decided to start out in Porto Alegre, and I heard a lot of ‘Are you crazy? You're going to throw away the lab and move to Porto Alegre?’.
Until the angel of my life, my grandmother, looked at me in tears and said: ‘I'm going to miss you, but if this is what you want, don't mind what others say, I support you’.
And so here I am, more than a year in Porto Alegre, working where I want to. And teaching when I have time, and seeing patients in Santa Cruz and Cachoeira too!”
She says that changing professions was one of the best things she has ever done. Even with a solid business, she doesn't regret her choice; after all, doing what you love is priceless. That is what passion for aesthetics is like.
“With my work I make many people happy, and that makes me even happier! It's worth every second of butterflies in my stomach I've ever felt.”
