Dr. Thaise Sales Claro Garcia: Aesthetic Pharmacy

Alumna Dr. Thaise Sales Claro Garcia stood out for the topic of her Capstone Project (TCC). The specialist, who has held a degree in Pharmacy from Universidade Paulista (UNIP) in São Paulo, SP since 2008, completed a postgraduate program in aesthetic pharmacy at Nepuga/FAPUGA in São Paulo, SP.

In 2018, Dr. Thaise began her postgraduate program in Aesthetic Pharmacy, and during her time at Nepuga/FAPUGA she fell in love with the procedures and discovered that, more than affecting patients' beauty, aesthetics mainly impacted these people's self-esteem.

“Nowadays, we constantly see aesthetics increasingly linked to human health, tied to self-esteem and personal well-being. Improved self-esteem is one of the main reasons that has led people to undergo aesthetic treatments. Self-esteem is understood as well-being, happiness, and a positive evaluation of oneself. These are subjective sensations, related to psychology, which leads medicine to consider the result of the intervention as psychological repair”.

Choosing the Topic of the Project

Motivated by her interest in the field, and with the help of her professors, the topic “TREATMENT OF TISSUE HYPOTONIA THROUGH RADIOFREQUENCY” emerged as her capstone project to complete her postgraduate program.

Regarding the study on the use of radiofrequency for cellulite in aesthetic treatment, Dr. Thaise explains the methodology:

“Radiofrequency acts on the dermis layer, activating fibroblasts and thus generating neocollagenesis, which is the production of new collagen fibers in the skin, thereby filling areas weakened by the loss of collagen fibers. The radiofrequency device works through electromagnetic waves, with frequencies from 0.3 MHz to 3 MHz, and can be of three types: monopolar, bipolar, and tripolar”.

As her central objective, Dr. Thaise reveals that this work seeks to study the treatment of skin laxity through radiofrequency, and its results with regard to human health.

Using a literature review methodology, she addresses the main topics on the subject, reaching innovative conclusions about this procedure.

“As the study carried out in this monograph shows, it is possible to observe that radiofrequency treatment is effective and highly recommended for aesthetic repair of tissue laxity, as well as other problems the skin may present. Therefore, the efficiency and quality of the results obtained by this technique are evident; on average, between 4 and 10 sessions statistically resolve the skin problems it promises to treat”.

A Career in Aesthetic Pharmacy

After graduating in 2019, Dr. Thaise started her own business and launched Studio Salles, a Beauty and Aesthetics space, but unfortunately her business closed.

Currently living in Santa Isabel, SP, the specialist enjoys life, dividing her time between career, family, and leisure.

“They say that in life, whoever loses the roof gains the stars. That's exactly how it is. Sometimes you lose what you didn't want to lose, but you gain what you never imagined.”
