Aesthetic Nursing: Dr. Jéssica Finds Her Way Back to the Field

The search for a change in life and profession is increasingly common across many fields. In healthcare, aesthetic nursing is an option for nurses, and it was for Dr. Jéssica too.

Whether because of hectic, exhausting routines or simply being tired of a monotonous life, nurses are seeking new professional directions through a postgraduate program. A door that is always open to them.

But are there times when you try and still can't move forward? Don't worry, that's common.

It may sound like a cliché, but everything has its exact time to happen, and Dr. Jéssica Flores Teixeira Rockerback is living proof of that.

She even gave up on the aesthetics field, but today she is finishing her Postgraduate Program in Aesthetic Nursing and working in what she loves. Learn a bit about her story in this article.

Aesthetic Nursing Was the Goal

A nurse with a master's in public health and an instructor in technical and undergraduate nursing programs, Jéssica worked for eight years in primary care in the Unified Health System (SUS, Brazil's public health system) and since 2018 has been a nurse at a private-network hospital in Novo Hamburgo, Rio Grande do Sul.

She graduated in 2012 and, even with other specializations, in 2016 she discovered the desire to work in Aesthetic Health.

She came to know Nepuga through a biomedical friend who was taking a postgraduate program at that time, and that sparked her interest in the field, so much so that she started several applications to the institution back then but never finished them.

As the desire to work in the beauty field kept pulsing, in 2017 the nurse took a few courses and offered services in her city.

“I started offering eyebrow design, eyelash extensions, facial cleansing and diamond peel”, she says.

However, what she didn't expect was to be the victim of a robbery in 2018, when her work materials were stolen from inside her car. As a result, she gave up the business for two years.

Even so, her love for the field still pulsed and the desire remained alive. “In November 2020 I decided I needed new professional directions and decided to actually enroll in the postgraduate program in Aesthetic Nursing.”

A Standout in Aesthetic Health

Currently, besides being a nurse – and now an aesthetics specialist – Jéssica sees patients in a shared space and intends to soon open her own advanced aesthetics clinic. To that end, she is already taking some extra specialization courses in facial harmonization.

“To stand out in aesthetics, you need to be constantly studying and specializing. Since classes started, and as soon as I became qualified to perform procedures, I have been working in my city at a therapeutic space where I offer my services”, she says.

Jéssica also notes that, during this time of pandemic, Nepuga met her needs with the hybrid course, offering live online classes and in-person hands-on practice.

“I believe the Nepuga team strives to deliver what was contracted in the best way possible within the current scenario”, she concludes.
