Hands-on Classes at Nepuga – Dr. Stella Lobão Talks About the New Methodology

Hands-on classes at Nepuga are an incredible differentiator for students. Find out how they will work, in the words of professor Dr. Stella Lobão.

“They leave the postgraduate program ready and confident for the aesthetics job market, and as a result the financial return is fast and very rewarding, because students also know they are helping raise their patients' self-esteem.”

The new methodology for hands-on classes at Nepuga, structured for the Nepuga/FAPUGA postgraduate programs, was designed to refine techniques and train professionals for the job market. Dr. Stella Lobão, a professor and member of the institution's academic council, talks about the purpose of the methodology: “The practical sessions are a clinical immersion where the student gets complete guidance on caring for the patient as if in a clinic.”

In the hybrid learning model, all content is covered in theory classes before the hands-on classes take place. Content on the anatomy and physiology involved in the procedures studied is made available, and those classes must be completed before scheduling the hands-on session.

Dr. Stella highlights that this sequence of content is essential for the best performance of postgraduate students: “Theory is fundamental and it does influence practice, because that is the class where students get all the information, such as the effect of each substance used, how each device works and its action in the patient's body. Without these synchronous in-person classes, they go into the clinical immersion without knowledge, and that hurts their performance when carrying out the procedure,” she explains.

In this way, hands-on classes at Nepuga are a clinical immersion where students learn everything from performing a complete assessment/anamnesis and recommending the best procedure for the patient's complaint, to building their protocol by combining those procedures for the best result. “The methodology currently used is Pugacode®. Although it is an economical and safe method, it is up to each student to bring maximum dedication, interest in learning and commitment,” says the instructor.

To support students, hands-on classes at Nepuga are supervised and guided by professors and technical supervisors (RTs) at each campus and unit: “This professional is properly qualified and trained to provide all the information students need to practice the procedures safely and leave the program ready for the job market.”

“The pedagogical methodology is the map for the institution to reach its full potential, offering students the best in aesthetic health and contributing to their professional growth and development,” concludes Dr. Stella Lobão.
