We spoke with Ladymary Silva Paixão, the faculty member in charge of the biomagnetism course in the Quantum Naturopathy postgraduate program, and she told us all about the therapy that uses the biomagnetic pair to promote pH balance in the body, a good introduction for anyone not yet familiar with the therapeutic method.
Ladymary credits Mexican physician Dr. Isaac Goiz with the discovery of Biomagnetism, but notes that the use of magnets for health treatments dates back to Ancient Greece. The fundamental difference is that Dr. Goiz discovered the biomagnetic pair, which uses both negative and positive polarity, whereas magnet therapy uses only one of the polarities.
Another difference is strength, or more precisely, magnetic induction: Biomagnetism uses magnets of 1000 Gauss and above, which makes some precautions necessary, although there are not many restrictions on performing this therapy.
Are there restrictions for Biomagnetism?
Above all, people with an IUD (intrauterine device) or a pacemaker are advised against the procedure, since in the first case the magnets can move the device out of place and in the second they can drain the pacemaker's battery.
In addition, people with piercings, earrings and other accessories are advised to remove them to avoid accidents or to avoid influencing the procedure. Ladymary also advises against performing Biomagnetism during pregnancy because, although it poses no health risk, if any problem were to occur during the pregnancy or with the newborn, the therapist spares themselves in advance from possible suspicion, especially from people who are unaware of how safe the therapy is.
But returning to Dr. Goiz's discoveries, the faculty member explains the magnet therapy in more detail:
“Dr. Goiz discovered that when we have a pH imbalance, one point becomes more alkaline and another point more acidic, and when you place [the magnets] you find that pair in the body through the acupuncture points we all have, and by placing the magnet on the correct point, you depolarize the other point that is polarized, and then those two points come into normal energetic balance and the pH of that body is restored.”
What biomagnetism helps fight
There are many reasons that can alter the pH of our blood and of different regions of the body. This imbalance affects the human body's vulnerability to viruses, bacteria and parasites, which then find a more favorable environment to develop, harming the body even further.
Everything from temperature changes to dietary problems and even psychological issues can trigger changes in pH.
Considering that today we are exposed to drastic climate changes, to a growing amount of ultra-processed foods or foods full of pesticides, and to the frequency with which psychological and psychiatric conditions such as anxiety and depression are diagnosed, the issues that Biomagnetism helps treat are, therefore, a present-day need.
Ladymary gives even more examples:
“Sometimes a very strong emotional impact lowers immunity, as do pollution, pesticides and heavy metals. We are living in a time when it is very hard to choose a healthy diet, and some allopathic medications have the side effect of making the blood or the cells too acidic or too alkaline.”
By restoring balance in the body, the various parasites no longer find conditions to keep developing in that environment, and as a result the patient is freed from illness.
