Professionals from various fields were in Ribeirão Preto to practice procedures. Aesthetics graduates complete clinical immersion in the city to master skills and gain confidence in caring for their future patients.
The experience aesthetics graduates look forward to most is the clinical immersions. In Ribeirão Preto, the postgraduate students had the chance to dive into just over a week of rich content and practice that values and sharpens the skills of new aesthetics professionals.
These professionals from different backgrounds, including biomedical professionals, pharmacists and nurses, were able to fine-tune their skills even further over 11 days of sharing experiences and information about the job market.
Graduates from various regions of the country were present, all engaged and excited about being increasingly prepared to start a new career in their lives.
It is in these immersions that new aesthetic professionals can clear up questions, go deeper and gain a better understanding of the world they will encounter.
Many of the students were already finishing their specialization and, by the end of the immersions, would be graduated as aesthetic professionals, while others were beginning their journey in the field with great dedication and commitment.
A variety of procedures were explored for the development of the new specialists over more than a week of immersions. Graduates had contact with and went deeper into procedures such as fillers, botulinum toxin, facial cleansing, microneedling, mesotherapy, among others.
One of the graduates saying goodbye to the specialization was biomedical professional Dr. Bianca. She started the postgraduate program at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic and, due to a few unforeseen circumstances, was completing her immersions in Ribeirão Preto and would finish this experience as an aesthetic biomedical professional.
Bianca says the immersion was extremely important for her mastery of techniques she hadn't felt comfortable with, such as mesotherapy. “I wasn't skilled with injectables, and it's a serious procedure. The mesotherapy class for me was one of the best we had. I already love mesotherapy. Now I'm much more confident to start doing applications.”
Another biomedical professional who was also finishing the specialization was Dr. Márcia Rossato. Márcia was far from home. She came to Ribeirão from Luiz Eduardo Magalhães, in the state of Bahia. Even though there are campuses in her region, Márcia took advantage of the fact that she was finishing her training and wanted to complete the postgraduate program this year and take advantage of the immersions in Ribeirão Preto. Márcia also says that along the way she stopped to see relatives and friends, which made the experience even more rewarding.
Márcia went to Ribeirão Preto and left her husband and two children at home, but even from far away she says the group made her feel very welcome. “I had a lot of support from the friendships I made here, to the point that they helped me with everything I needed. They did everything to make it really special. Here is a second family.”
Márcia also highlights the importance of doing the clinical immersions. “All the learning we gain here is very important. We arrive with some experience, but we leave here with that experience even fuller. I came with a backpack and a dream and I'm leaving with it full, packed with wishes and dreams.”
The importance of clinical immersions and the procedures performed
To handle things competently and offer patients a quality service, practice and consistency are necessary. Clinical immersions bring precisely the feel of a normal day in the life of an aesthetics professional. In addition to the theory content, the experience of performing procedures on model patients is the icing on the cake of the postgraduate program.
There are countless activities involving hands-on practice of procedures. In recent days, the graduates had the chance to "get their hands dirty" and get the feel of real patient visits.
Attendees had the chance to take part in activities such as marking application points with the Nepuguetty, a practice used for more complete learning of fundamentals that will be applied to patients.
They also had classes on Semiology, Electrotherapy and Pharmacology. Procedures with injectables, perhaps one of the most anticipated practices, were performed on model patients so that graduates feel more confident applying them in future patient care.
Within injectable procedures, the postgraduate students had contact with Microneedling, Hydrolipoclasia, Carboxytherapy and PEIM.
Facial Harmonization and Fillers also involved model patients. This methodology is essential for the development of specialists.
Intense days of learning, practice and activities that value the specialization and give graduates, beyond practical development, a view of their future and of business through classroom interactions.
