Brunna Beatriz Rosa is an aesthetic biomedical professional. And when she started college she already had one certainty: she would work in the Aesthetic Field. That is because when she entered college she already knew about this possibility, which became available starting in 2018.
With daily trips to study in another city and a specialization in Goiânia (GO), more than 1,200 kilometers from Xinguara (PA), she feels fulfilled learning so much about this field. “Important for experiencing the routine of an aesthetics clinic”.
Below, learn a little more about Brunna's academic experience.
The biomedicine degree with a focus on aesthetics
In the past, biomedicine led students to a single place: lab analysis. Other paths did exist, but they were far less common. Since 2018, a new door has opened: the aesthetics market became regulated as a specialization for biomedical professionals.
That is why Brunna entered college already thinking about this idea. “I started college thinking about working in aesthetics. So it was never a plan for me to work in a laboratory or any other field. And throughout the program I didn't change my mind”.
There, she learned a little about every field, without losing sight of the shine of aesthetics. The daily trips were to reach a neighboring city that had the Biomedicine program. But there was a geographic challenge: it was a little over 2 hours away.
Why aesthetics?
For those who are unsure about this field, it is worth getting inspired and hearing other stories. In Brunna's case, she says it is a field that always suited her, which was boosted by a talk at college.
“It's a field I always thought suited me. I like the area. At college, we had a talk and that spark was there. One student promoted it here and another there, until one of our professors spoke and so I signed up”.
Later, she was able to see the advantages in the job market. At that point, two things were important to her: “the schedule flexibility and the autonomy of being able to own your own business”.
The postgraduate program in aesthetic biomedicine
The aesthetic biomedical professional finished her undergraduate studies in 2020. A few days later she was already starting her specialization in aesthetics.
“I did it at Nepuga because it was a reference for me. There were other options in my region, but I wanted to do it somewhere that inspired and motivated me”.
The first piece of good news she got was that she could finish the course according to her availability. “And since I live far away, I couldn't finish the program in November. So I chose to finish the theory first and do the hands-on classes all together, all at once”.
From this, there are 3 points Brunna highlighted as important in the Postgraduate Program in Aesthetics. Check them out:
1 – New Knowledge
The first differentiator the aesthetic biomedical professional found in the specialization was the chance to learn a little of everything, as she puts it.
“I think everyone goes in thinking about the facial part, like Botox injections and fillers. But you start learning and getting in touch with other procedures and you discover new paths”.
Brunna says she lived this in practice. “I thought I wouldn't like body work very much, but when I did the immersion, I identified with it. So, at first, I won't focus specifically on one area. I plan to venture into several”.
2 – The Clinical Immersion
By choosing to finish the course later and do the hands-on sessions all at once, she feels she was able to devote more to the Clinical Immersions. The Immersion provides a complete structure so students can experience what the day-to-day work in aesthetics is like.
“I joke a lot on social media that this area of the nasolabial folds [smile lines] really bothered me. Whenever I put on makeup, it showed and made me feel a bit insecure. And then yesterday I had the filler done and it was very smooth”.
But the biggest lesson was putting herself in her patients' shoes. “I thought it was a big deal, painful, that I'd need anesthetic. But it was much smoother and now I feel confident passing it on to my patients because I had the experience”.
3 – The Methodology
The end of Brunna's degree also marked the start of the global pandemic. So the idea of starting with the theory classes made even more sense. To boost her studies, the aesthetic biomedical professional had access to Nepuga Plus.
“And it has really good courses. And there are so many that with the rush of daily life we can't take all that are available. At the Immersion, during the hands-on session, when we covered the markings, I remembered some I took on that platform”.
During the classes, she also came into contact with Pugacode, Nepuga's Exclusive Method. “It's interesting because it's a universal technique, which is good for you and for the patients too”.
Success comes with dedication
The aesthetic biomedical professional does not set aside her struggle to reach the title she holds today: aesthetics specialist. She says that besides everything else, the trips were tiring. But they were never a reason for her to give up.
“Since college it wasn't easy. I lived in one city and studied 2 hours away. I went and came back every day. To finish my degree, I needed a lot of willpower. And I didn't see it as an obstacle. It gives you a boost of motivation to learn something new”.
Later, for the postgraduate program, she had to travel more than 1,200 kilometers, leaving Pará and arriving in Goiânia. Which only confirmed the aesthetic biomedical professional's willpower. That is why she has standing to speak about this.
“What I have to say is: don't give up. At the start of the course, when I joined, there were people who already worked in the field. And knew everything. I thought I was lost because I knew nothing. But don't compare yourself to those who are ahead”.
And she adds: “You are starting now and everyone has their own starting point. Little by little, we learn. We have to step out of our comfort zone. With knowledge, we go far”.
