After Specializing, Aesthetic Biomedical Professional Innovates in Far Western SC

Magda Strieder is an aesthetic biomedical professional. She had experience in laboratories, when she worked with clinical analysis. She even specialized in that subject. But everything changed when she saw that aesthetics could change the course of her professional life. And it really did!

In 2010, she graduated in biomedicine from Unoesc (Universidade do Oeste de Santa Catarina) at the São Miguel do Oeste campus, in Santa Catarina. For 3 years, she worked in a laboratory, but she saw in another field the chance to succeed in her profession.

And it all began when, after graduating, the aesthetic biomedical professional started a postgraduate program in applied toxicology at PUC (Pontifícia Universidade Católica) in Porto Alegre (RS). There she learned about another specialization that offered a different career: aesthetics.

Discovering the Aesthetic Field as a Specialization Option

Today, she is a reference throughout the far west region of Santa Catarina. But to get there, Magda had to face hours on the road and a lot of study. She started with an 8-day intensive course held by Nepuga in São Paulo, and afterward began her Postgraduate Program in Aesthetic Biomedicine.

The beginning was somewhat by chance. After college, she went into toxicology, which is a more traditional specialization within biomedicine. And it was near the end of that program that she heard about aesthetics. In other words, “the first postgraduate program opened doors to a new course.”

The aesthetic biomedical professional also says that the fact it was in Porto Alegre (RS) could be an advantage because it wasn't in her own city, but it was closer than having to go to São Paulo, for example. The actual distance from the state capital to where she lived was 500 kilometers, that is, 10 to 12 hours on the BR 386 highway.

For Nepuga, this was also a historic milestone because it was the first postgraduate class in aesthetic biomedicine in Porto Alegre. Today, the institution has more than 500 classes across the country, at more than 27 campuses.

The First Aesthetic Biomedical Professional in the Far West of SC

The result of the trips and efforts came soon after the specialization. She herself says she became the “first aesthetic biomedical professional in the entire far west region of Santa Catarina”. She innovated by bringing the subject of aesthetic biomedicine to that region.

The aesthetic biomedical professional says that even without knowing the specialty beforehand, she built up a very high expectation for the possibilities that were out there. “Reading and researching the subject sparked my interest”.

Then came the direct result: the expectation was exceeded. “I ended up learning a lot. I also attended many congresses. The postgraduate program allowed me to open my own clinic”. And that is the dream of many women who want to innovate and start a business in aesthetics.

The Job Market in Aesthetic Biomedicine

Besides working in her own clinic, the aesthetic biomedical professional from SC also works at other locations. “Today I have my own clinic in Tunápolis (SC) and I see patients in two other cities: São Miguel do Oeste (SC) and Itapiranga (SC)”.

In terms of aesthetic procedures, she says she performs facial and body treatments. In addition to working with ozone therapy and being a specialist in weight loss.

She says she found an advantageous field of work. “The job market in the laboratory is different from aesthetics. Whoever stays in the laboratory is shut in by 4 walls. And aesthetics professionals directly help people, improving health through beauty”.

To keep succeeding, the aesthetic biomedical professional bets on investing in new equipment, courses, and learning. “Aesthetics is a field that only grows. These days, everybody knows it. But the main thing is to work with ethics and a lot of responsibility”.

The Financial Returns of the Aesthetics Field

Magda says one of the benefits of aesthetics has to do with the possibility of financial return. The desire to look for something different in the region, something innovative or that didn't exist until then, was the starting point for taking the aesthetics course.

But more than that, she saw in the profits a way to be better paid and more valued in her profession. “It's hard to talk about salary because there are many variables, but it's much more advantageous than being an employee in a laboratory: it's having your own business”.

The aesthetic biomedical professional says: “The benefits of the aesthetics job market are much better, like pay, the hours are scheduled and so you can set your own hours. Plus, the profit is greater and even though it requires investment, it also generates returns”.

Other People Who Found Financial Success in Aesthetics

Phamela Priscila Bezerra graduated in biomedicine in Londrina (PR). After her postgraduate program in aesthetics, she saw the chance to move to Europe. In Dublin, Ireland, she owns an aesthetics clinic and is paid in euros.

Najara Maurício Reus is also from the south of the country, more specifically Itajaí and Xangri-lá. She went against the traditionalism of the job market in her profession and decided to become an independent aesthetics professional. As a result, she now has an income that is 10 times higher.

Luana Andressa Galani is an aesthetic biomedical professional who managed to double the size of her aesthetics clinic in less than 12 months. As a result, she also had greater financial returns. And it all started when she did a specialization in aesthetics.

Camila Sampaio da Silva says that even while facing challenges, from her first month as an entrepreneur she was able to earn the same salary she made while working at a commercial pharmacy. Today, she is an aesthetic pharmacist and sets her own work hours.
