Elisângela Vita is from Lins (SP) and planned her entire Postgraduate Program in Aesthetic Nursing. She chose to take the theory classes first and the clinical immersions for later, which take place in Ribeirão Preto (SP), fitting them in with her vacation from work.
The aesthetic nurse has worked for more than 10 years in clinical medicine, with 12-hour shifts, including weekends. Recently, she was also assigned to work the night shift.
Elisângela loves her profession. But after a decade in clinical nursing, she began to see another field as a possibility for a more promising future: aesthetics. From there, she planned to achieve that goal, which was recently realized.
The 12-Hour Shifts of Clinical Nursing
Clinical nurses are those who work in hospitals, clinics, and other healthcare institutions. They generally perform triage, fill out patient records, provide initial care, collect samples for tests, administer medications, and much more.
It is an area of nursing that many professionals enjoy. But most of them point to one downside: the shifts. Most commonly, workdays are intense, as with on-call shifts, which can even be overnight. That was Elisângela's case.
While studying to become an aesthetic nurse, she still works this way: 12-hour night shifts. “I start at 7 p.m. and leave at 7 a.m. Being a nurse is my passion, but I discovered that besides being a nurse there is another passion: aesthetics”.
The Autonomy of Working in Aesthetic Nursing
Without having to give up her profession, what Elisângela did was think about a new career that would be more flexible and allow more autonomy at work. After 10 years in clinical nursing, she noticed that setting her own work schedule would be appealing, just as other nurses in aesthetics do.
“I find the autonomy of aesthetics wonderful, because you set your own hours. You can also see people at times that suit them, providing home care, and you give all of them good assistance, directly”.
Now the theory classes are finished and she is finishing the hands-on classes, called clinical immersion. In a short time, the nurse's life is going to change, and she is convinced of it. “I plan to move into this field because I found fulfillment in aesthetics”.
The Postgraduate Program in Aesthetic Nursing Classes
With planning, the aesthetic nurse is just a few steps away from seeing and living that transformation. It all began when she started the course in aesthetic nursing, a little less than a year ago.
“I chose aesthetics because I discovered that the field goes beyond a person's appearance. It cares for well-being, fostering self-esteem and confidence”.
But what she needed was to find time to specialize. And that was possible because she found a hybrid course, with online theory classes and in-person clinical immersion at several of the institution's units.
“I left all the theory for the beginning. And the 12 days of practice were left for the end of the course. I was able to fit it in with my vacation. So it was the best thing I did, because it is 12 intense days of hands-on experience, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.”.
The Clinical Nurse's Future Will Be in Aesthetics
The aesthetic nurse sees a bright future in just a few days. Her daughter is a dentist specialized in aesthetics and performs facial harmonization procedures. Elisângela, on the other hand, is more drawn to body aesthetics.
“Today there is someone involved with us who has franchises in the aesthetics field. So things just keep getting better so that we can truly work in aesthetics with passion”.
And that dream was possible thanks to choosing a qualified educational institution dedicated to delivering the best results. “We see the importance of that responsibility so that, when we leave the program, we can do our work well”.
Choosing Nepuga for the Aesthetics Specialization
“I chose Nepuga for the qualifications, seriousness, competence, and responsibility it shows toward us. That way, we can show our clients how important our work is and how much responsibility we have in working in this field,” says the nurse.
She then also spoke about Dr. Ana Carolina Puga, known as the mother of biomedicine and the force behind the postgraduate programs in aesthetics.
“When you get involved with Nepuga, you see a prominence that comes from Dr. Ana. And she is a role model for all of us because she is a warrior, a woman who truly fights, who encourages us and shows that dreams can come true”.
A Pleasant Surprise
During one of the clinical immersion classes, Elisângela and her entire class got a pleasant surprise: the presence of Dr. Ana.
“When Dr. Ana arrived here it was a surprise and, at the same time, an honor to have her with us and to be able to learn directly from her. You feel completely fulfilled. I am grateful for everything she does for me and for us”.
In the end, the certainty that “everything we do from here on will help the well-being of many people because we will do our very best for them. Despite the difficulties and barriers, she motivates us to keep going and reach our goals”.
