Mother of Aesthetic Biomedicine Visits Student from One of the First Specialization Classes in BH

Ten years ago she graduated in one of the first Aesthetic Biomedicine classes of the specialization in BH. Learn the details of this success story, and how the postgraduate program shaped her worldview and the way she works to this day.

We have talked about Dr. Laís Mascarenhas here before, but this time it is even more special: Dr. Ana Carolina Puga went to the former student's space, both to see her clinic up close and to learn the details of this inspiring success story.

The reunion brought back important memories from the careers of the two aesthetic biomedical professionals, who talked about a time when biomedical professionals barely had recognition to work in the field, and about what the first specialization classes in BH were like.

They also recalled what has changed over these years, and how the experiences gained during the postgraduate program actively influence the choices, worldview, and market outlook of postgraduate students and graduated specialists.

Among these influences, the vision of humanized patient care stands out especially, along with the focus on patient well-being and boosting self-esteem, and sensitive attention to what each patient brings with them when they walk into the office.

Starting with humility

Dr. Laís says that when she started, right after the specialization in BH, she really wanted to gain experience in the field, so she accepted an internship spot as soon as the opportunity appeared. She stresses that success does not come out of nowhere; it is essential to make a name for yourself and go after it.

She comments that even today, although aesthetic biomedicine has become so popular and has gained so much trust, many patients still arrive at the office with doubts.

But Dr. Laís assures that a properly prepared professional will be able to demystify any ideas and convey the security needed for the patient to feel at ease and open up more, so that their real needs can be understood – which often also leads to that patient returning and recommending her to others.

Building credibility

Speaking of trust, Dr. Laís comments that she has always looked very young, which can lead to distrust from potential patients, so the aesthetic biomedical professional emphasizes the importance of dressing and carrying yourself the way you want to be seen.

During the conversation, Dr. Ana agrees, and they discuss the importance of caring about how you present yourself when starting a business in aesthetics; this care – or the lack of it – is noticed by patients and affects credibility.

She may be and look young, but she is an extremely qualified professional, able to convey confidence to patients who put their own health, well-being, and appearance in her hands.

As for personal marketing, Dr. Laís is very at ease on her social media, but says this did not come automatically; she had to practice a lot to become the communicator who seems like a natural.

Dr. Ana and Dr. Laís then exchanged experiences on this topic, including the importance of showing before and afters of patients who have had procedures, and which lighting is most suitable, both for performing the procedures and for showing them on social media.

These are the details learned over time by those who start a business in aesthetics. And networking among professionals, if well used, always contributes a lot in this regard.

Giving patients back their self-esteem is priceless

On entrepreneurship, Dr. Laís says she has wanted this since she was a child, and not just the desire but the entrepreneurial spirit too, because she realized that if she wanted an extra quality of life, she would have to pursue her achievements independently.

But the main thing is to earn this achievement while contributing to the quality of life and well-being of the people she is able to treat.

It was a very happy surprise for Dr. Ana to see, in the former student's words, the lessons she taught back then, 10 years ago, when she stressed the importance of being attentive to each patient, trying as much as possible to treat them according to their real possibilities and wishes.

Being a good aesthetic health professional therefore goes far beyond knowing procedures and techniques. These skills are obviously extremely important, but the example of humanity toward patients that Dr. Ana and Dr. Laís value makes all the difference in achieving the kind of success that is not based only on quantitative results, but that rewards you every day, through the active improvement of patients' confidence.

Both agree with the philosophy that “aesthetic procedures have a price, giving people back their self-esteem is priceless”.
