Fernanda Graniero da Cruz is a pharmacist and has worked for almost 10 years at a public health unit. After so long in the same place, Fernanda says she ended up with a very limited view of the possibilities open to her as a pharmacist, before she began her specialization in Aesthetic Pharmacy.
The Pharmacist’s Reality
Fernanda’s experience is similar to that of many other health professionals who end up stagnant because of a restricted view of their own career possibilities.
Stories are common from pharmacists, nurses, biomedical professionals, dentists, and other professionals who dedicated themselves to their training, seeking the ability to support others and offer solutions for their well-being, but ended up finding frustration in the professional reality, dealing daily with illness and exhausting work shifts.
All of this without fair pay.
But Fernanda is managing to get around the reality described above. She says that when she began researching specializations in aesthetics, she was very surprised: “Because it’s a very broad market, a range of knowledge, opportunities, and possibilities that opened up for me.”
New Horizons Through Aesthetic Pharmacy
Currently, the most recent resolution of the Federal Council of Pharmacy (CFF) to legislate on Aesthetic Pharmacy was 645/2017, a victory for pharmacists that establishes the full right to practice various activities in aesthetics, as long as they hold a postgraduate degree from an institution recognized by Brazil’s MEC (Ministry of Education) or by the CFF.
Faced with the new possibilities that have opened up in her outlook on life and career, Fernanda sees the specialization in aesthetics as a means of bringing about a transformation in her own professional life; this is her main focus. And she highlights her desire for new experiences.
What Aesthetics Specialists Can Dream Of
From the Aesthetic Pharmacy course, Fernanda also expects to gain more autonomy over her hours and schedule.
Mainly because her professional experience so far has been draining and has kept her from spending time with her family as she would like, all because of long hours and lack of flexibility.
On the financial side, the pharmacist has a solid personal goal: she wants to earn 5 times more than she currently does!
If you think this is too ambitious a goal, here on the blog you can see that Aesthetic Pharmacy and other postgraduate programs have produced stories of successful professionals in aesthetic health.
They began earning more after specializing in aesthetics, as is the case with Dr. Camila Sampaio, who got a quick financial return by starting a business in the field.
You can also discover the story of Dina Lúcia da Silva Prazeres, a biomedical professional who chose the path of aesthetics in order to spend more time with her children, which, incidentally, is also one of Fernanda’s wishes for her new career.
The Pharmacist’s Future Can Look Like This, Too
We are speaking to health professionals or students who dream of entering the field: whatever the obstacle on your professional horizon that discourages you from continuing to want to care for others, know that Aesthetic Pharmacy – like other specialties in Aesthetic Health – is waiting for you and there is room for you to achieve the success you deserve!
As the mother of Aesthetic Biomedicine, Dr. Ana Carolina Puga, says: “Discover your life’s mission and help others with something they really want; do that and you will receive the laurels in the form of recognition and wealth.”
To Learn More About Aesthetic Health
Health is not merely the absence of disease. As defined by the WHO, health is closely tied to physical, mental, and social well-being.
These aspects cannot be considered in isolation; they add to one another in shaping people’s health. That is why self-esteem in relation to physical qualities cannot be underestimated when we think about health.
“The main goal of Aesthetic Health is to bring health to individuals through beauty, thus serving as a means of improving their physical, mental, and social well-being, providing disease prevention, physiological rejuvenation, improved self-esteem, and lifestyle habits”, defines Dr. Ana Carolina Puga.
Thus, by specializing in aesthetics, the health professional gains the ability and the tools to support their patients’ well-being more completely.
Beyond making diagnoses and fighting pathologies, often without the chance to see their patients improve, the Aesthetic Health professional can have the pleasure of being the agent responsible for visible change in people’s lives every day.
